Block Colors
Custom blocks are a high-contrast purple color now.
Why are colors being tampered with at this stage in development? It just seems like a distraction to me…
In my opinion:
- the purple can confuse with looks blocks
- too-high contrast
- not a necessary change…I think brown worked nicely

In an ideal world (i.e. BYOB
), clone is a reporter which reports a sprite object created. And clones can clone recursively. I think for the moment Scratch probably wouldn't want to add new complex data types, but how about the clone block reports the name of the sprite's clone (i.e. clone1, clone2, etc.)? Or a (most recent clone's name) reporter?

Yeah, the different colors do confuse me a bit. I'm not disliking it just for the sake of change, but the problem is that this makes all previous pictures, projects, and books made with screenshots of scripts completely outdated. That might seem like an unimportant issue since Scratch 2.0 is such a huge change, but this kind of change is the equivalent of changing a language's syntax! Sure, some minor changes of the tints of blocks (like to distinct between “Control” and Events“) is okay with me - but pen and data? Right now, there's a dark blue (motion), medium blue (sensing), light blue (pen), and a green-ish blue (pen)! Let's try to be practical here.
I would probably be more satisfied if pen could simply get it's old color back, and data was light-blue instead.
Although I'll also agree with your description, ”eye-burning brighter". Some of the colors - particularly for pen, operators, and control, are a lot less appealing to me simply because it makes looking at scripts and reading their text a bit more difficult. Perhaps the colors aren't *that* much brighter, but considering the words aren't as clearly-defined as in Scratch 1.4 because of the different font, it's an issue to keep in mind. Just a subtle adjustment would be nice imo.

Horrible colors. Like, seriously, why is pen bright blue?

Yeah, we need darker colors. It makes the text more visible. Ideally we keep all the old colors except the colors for Events, which should be some form of orange like control, since they are in fact special control blocks. Also, while we're at it, it might be worth suggesting zebra coloring.

Hardmath123Zebra coloring (from BYOB) would be a useful feature, but I think at this point with all of the new block colors, it would just be too confusing (mostly with the different shades of blue).

Purple?! Come on, you can do better than that, ST!
How / why can we do better than purple?
(Rather fond of it myself.)

I still don't like the fact that all the C-blocks are brown. Looks depressing.
I'd rather see them gold as they were before.
