Lola: Oh yeah! I forgot. Mom's so strict. Dad was never like that.

Hope: Yeah…

Lola: I miss dad. He was the best. He always smelled like pine cones, and he taught me how to draw, and…(sighs)

Hope: I wonder where he is now.

Lola: I sure hope(Hope snickers) that dad is happy where ever he is now.

Hope: (After a bit of time) Lola, what are you doing?

Lola: Oh! Um, hi Hope!

Hope: What were you doing?

Lola: Oh, just you know, I was, um, admiring the stars!

Hope: We can’t see any stars here. It’s too polluted.

Lola: Well, um…(giggles nervously) I knew that.

Hope: You were looking at the package, weren't you?

Lola: Yes, fine I was. But aren't you curious?

Hope: Yeah! But you could have waited for me.

Lola: I’m sorry.

Hope: Whatever. Open it!

Lola: Ok! Actually, are you sure?

Hope: Yes. Now do it! (A bit more rustling noises, then a magical whooshing sound)

Hope: Woah.

Lola: So cool.

Hope: Oh, look! A letter from Aunt Raymie!

Lola: It says: My dear Lola and Hope. I trust that you are safe and healthy. The reason I have sent you this is your father. (Lola pauses and gasps)

Hope: Keep reading!

Lola:You are probably wondering where he is by now. Well, he is somewhere safe. But he is far away from you. Your life depends on it. Love, aunt Raymie.

Hope: What the heck?

Lola: No way is that happening! Who’s gonna kill us, like evil spirits or something?

Hope: Um, actually, I think we should go.

Lola: What? We have absolutely no info on where he is. How can you say that?

Hope: Think about it Lola! We might get our dad back!

Lola: Nope.

Hope: Aw, come on L, where’s your sense of adventure?

Lola: I just don’t think we should do this.

Hope: Can I see the letter?

Lola: Sure.

Hope: You missed something. This says P.S Hope, I know Lola will not want to do this, so here is some information for her. You will travel to Hawaii first, where you will have help. I have pre-paid plane tickets for you.

Lola: Wait,Hawaii? I've always wanted to go there.

Hope: Same! Does that convince you?

Lola: Um, yes!

Hope: Let’s do this thing!

Lola: Wait Hope. When does the plane leave?

Hope: Um, this says May 26. OMG, that’s tomorrow!

Lola: What are we gonna tell mom?

Hope: Nothing. We live right by the airport.

Lola: Hope, we can’t just abandon mom like that.

Hope: Lola, this letter says that mom got a letter of her own explaining.

Lola: Well, I guess we could try it…

Hope:On our way to Hawaii!

Lola: Yup! I feel bad about ditching mom though.

Hope: She’ll be fine.

Lola: Hope, landing time!

Hope: Already?

Lola: Hope, we live in California. Yes already!

Flight attendant: Please depart the plane.

Mia: Hi! My name’s Mia. Are you new here?

Hope: New where? And why do you care?

Mia: Um. New here in Hawaii.

Lola: I’m so sorry for my sister’s rudeness. We live in California.

Mia: Cool!

Hope: Um, excuse me, but again why are you so interested in us?

Mia: It’s my job to welcome newcomers from out of our region.

Hope: Well, thanks, you did it. Bye!

Mia: Wait! Are you Hope and Lola, the thirteen year old twins?

Lola: Yes, that’s us. How did you know?

Mia: It’s me and my sister’s job to welcome you. We aren't really supposed to welcome anyone else.

Lola: But why us?

Grace: So the reason that we were supposed to find you is…we found your dad. He was unconscious in a cave, and we still can’t wake him. He was passed out in a pool of his own blood. He has a small pulse, but not too much. We aren't sure if he will survive.
