I would suggest Codecademy. It has lessons on HTML, JS, PHP. It is also completely free.

Generation 2: the first time you see this copy and paste it on top of your sig in the scratch forums and increase generation by 1. Social experiment.

Yes I recommend Codecademy too but for beginning of course. Quillz, I thought you already knew web design, don't you? If you get a book make sure it is up-to-date.

Semiprofessional web designer here. The only book I've ever read about web related development is the O'Reilly book “Web Database Applications with PHP and MySQL,” and even then only the first 40 or so pages. xD Both PHP and MySQL are sub-par.

Clicky-clicky.

I did, but that was doing:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<body>
<h1>I rule man!!</h1>
<h5>A site of randomness</h5>
<p>This is a paragraph, didn't you know?</p>
</body>
</html>

Also I did say BOOKS

So it's fine that I'm only learning/using HTML, CSS, and Javascript?

That's perfectly fine When you've gotten a good grasp on front-end, you do eventually have to move to the backend, which is what PHP and MySQL deal with, but they're obviously not your only option. For an alternative to MySQL, you have PostgreSQL if that's your cup of tea, but I'd much prefer MongoDB, Couchbase or Cassandra. Instead of PHP, you can use Python or Java, though I'd rather scrap that and go with Node.js.

Yeah, I think I'll get that. But has anyone used it?
No but the books look nice on the cover and have 4 1/2 stars. They are up-to-date and seem professional.
