Instructions for my Super Mario World for Scratch project https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/333506935/
NOTICE: The game has been taken down 5 months ago and is no longer available.
Welcome, everybody!! In this forum I will be explaining about my remix of @Brad-Games's Super Mario 3.0 World v1.5 game. I've added so many functions that when I tried to type out the whole thing, the box turned yellow and said, “Description is too long”. That's crazy!
Firstly, I will keep the project's update log here so you guys know what is happening to it.
v1.0 - Remixed from Brad-Games
v1.1 - Added Items to Item Box
v1.2 - Added “Trade Coins” button - click to trade 20 coins for you to get super
v1.3 - Edited HitBoxes and added “End” button - click to stop the game on the map screen (retired — just click stop button)
v1.4 - Added a function to stop the game during a level - hold X to display the alert
v1.5 - Fixed Level 7 & updated enemy HitBoxes
v1.6 - You can kill Piranha Plants with Moon Power
v1.7 - Updated Moon Power as Super Star Invincibility and changed levels 1-5 to 1-7 into World 2 levels
v1.8 - Added shell animation for Koopa
v1.9 - Added fading ghosts when killed
v2.0 - Added new features to level 2-3 and added extra kill features for P. Plants (and also interactive logo on start)
v2.1 - To win the level, you must touch the goal tape and not just cross the line. The higher you are, the more extra points you get. Added fading animation for goal tape!
v2.2 - Added Cheep Cheeps to Level 7!!! (discontinued: i removed them, as people were complaining that level 2-3 was too hard)
v2.3 - Fixed bump glitch (when Mario hits a block, there is a bump sound): No sound when block hit while Mario is falling, Changed map style (now shadowed rather than hidden for locked levels)
Also added item sensor - enables items to change direction when it hits a wall
v2.4 - added luv and fav detector (available from Mar 18th, 2020) (beta), fixed level start glitch (done)
v2.5 - added ! block (freezes all enemies and things for a moment), added edge sprite.
v2.6 - spin available! (instant-kill some enemies): press z to spin
v2.7 - green koopa shells can now be moved like the real thing.
v2.8 - added fps sensor.
v2.9 - added item reserve box, beach koopas and big boo. added progress codes (hold m to access menu)
v3.0 - changed hud to match real game
v3.1 - Added 2 new blocks: Timer Blocks and Triangle Blocks
v3.2 - Fixed P Switch and variable blocks
v3.3 - Added lag detector - feel free to use in your own projects, some new parts, updated thumbnail
v3.4 - Added a new powerup: blue shell (turns mario into a koopa)
v3.5 - Changed yellow ! blocks to match real thing - now you must hit the big yellow ! switch to fill them in
v3.6 - Added new feature: Gold Stars (1 per 99 Bonus Stars you earn), added solid trampoline block
v3.7 - Changed the item reserve box to be more like the real thing
See how much I added?

Anyway, here are the full instructions. This will be a LOOOOONG post.
Welcome to Super Mario World!
—
In this remix of @Brad-Games's Super Mario 3.0 World, I added A LOT of new features to make it more like the real SNES game, and also some of my own ones just to make it more fun. The project is currently in development, but I've shared it so you can see the game while I work on it
But sadly, the project has only gotten 85 views since release, which is about half a year ago. xP But we can still make it more of a hit!
Click the SMALL flag in the corner two times (and not the big one) to start. Click the Start button to get to the map.
On the map, use the arrows to move. Press space to enter a level.
In a level, use arrows or WASD to move. Z to spin, which can instant-kill enemies. Avoid piranha plants unless you are spinning. Stomp on a Goomba to make it roll, and then it can be used as a trampoline. Koopa Troopas work perfectly fine, and their shells can be kicked, take out enemies, hit blocks and bounce off tiles. A new feature I added is Beach Koopas, which are shell-less koopas. They are running beta. They are killed by their own shells, but can hurt you as well.
If you get a blue shell, you will turn into a koopa. Now, munchers and spike blocks are harmless and you can hide in your shell for protection. However, you aren't invulnerable to other enemies, and you will be reverted to Super Mario after an enemy touches or bites you.
Moving Platforms:
Gray striped platforms will fall about a second after you stand on them. You must leap on them and instantly hop off to save your life.
Golden platforms will take you across a gap and then when it reaches the end, it will wobble and fall.
Gray checker platforms are the only safe ones: they only take you up and down, like an elevator. They never fall.
Misc
In level 2-2, just press the up key to swim. Don't fall off or swim too high!
Hit a Blue P-Switch to transform all coins into empty blocks, creating extra platforms. Hit a Gray P Switch to activate the Freeze Ray. All enemies/entities in the level will freeze until the timer goes off. This is an opportunity for you to easily beat harder levels! Also, P Switches can be used to extend your invincibility time.
To clear the castle, jump on the yellow ! switch.
Every time you fail a level, you lose a life. Once you lose all your lives, it's game over.
About Bonus Stars
There are 2 types of stars:
-Red Star
You get these if you cut the tape at the Giant Gate (the goalpost) depending on how high it was at the time. You can earn 1-ups if you collect a lot.
-Yellow Star
You get these if you get 100, 200, 300, 400 etc. Red Stars at the goal. For each one you get, you will earn a 1-up.
Further Notes
Do you want to make things change color by magic? Just click the gray heart and the star to do so!
The item reserv e box holds an item in captive for you to use when you lose power. When Mario runs out of power, the item will drop down automatically. This way, you can get back your power-up, but then you won't have anything to use as a backup. Best to not get hurt at all in the first place! To store an item in it, first get any powerup like the Super Mushrrom or Blue Shell. Then, get another one of that powerup from an item box (or ! Block). You will hear a “whee-ee” sound and that powerup will be reserved.
A Glitch!
If you spin jump into a pit, you'll start the next level with the death sprite. If you're Shell Mario, you'll be huge. Moreover, you'll instantly kill anything you land on, as if you're spin jumping right now. Grab a Super Star and you'll see Invincible Death Mario! If you actually spin jump, you'll end the glitch.
What I Am Working On
-King Boo in level 5 (big boo) (available)
-Reservable items (available)
-Gray P-Switch freezes all nearby enemies for a while (beta)
-Blue P-Switch turns all coins into blocks (working, but the line of coins next to the Giant Gate aren't solid even after having turned into blocks (i don't know why))
-Getting a blue shell turns you into Shell Mario (not yet, but you can still be turned into a Koopa)
- You can immediately kill an enemy (incl Piranha Plants) if you got the Super Star (available) or if you spin jump (only some of the weaker enemies).
Kick a Koopa's shell after being stomped (available)
-Kick the shell left if Mario approaches on the left (available)
-Shell kills enemies and gets coins after kicked (coins: available, enemies: beta)
-Shell spins after kicked (available)
-Beach Koopa comes out when a Koopa is stomped (available, velocity on beta)
Cheep Cheeps in level 2-2 (removed for now)
Grounds for level 2-2 (paused)
Additional playable characters (not yet)
Boo ghosts fade when killed (available)
When you've beaten all the levels, a winning screen will appear (discontinued)
You must touch the white goal tape to win the level (available)
Items change direction when touching a wall (beta: the sensing only works for short walls, but for tall ones I am currently working on it)
- Boss battle in the castle
- World 2 (not yet, this will be last)
