My suggestion is to remove anti-aliasing but an an alternative button in the bitmap paint editor which anti-aliases the image.

Removing anti-aliasing from what? If you removed anti-aliasing from the vector editor, which I think you're suggesting, it wouldn't be vector, it would be bitmap. I'm just confused in general about this post.

Anti-aliasing in vector is a rendering process:
- render four times the size with no anti-aliasing
- scale down four times with correct linear RGB blending

Are you sure you don't mean linear interpolation, not anti-aliasing? (Scratch 3 initially allowed bitmap costumes to be linearly interpolated, but that was fixed soon after its release.)
