Context: In Algebra I, we're currently learning how to factor ax² + bx + c, and the teacher told us that doing so is literally just guess-and-check.

Algebra I Teacher: If you get all of the questions right on your first try, you must be a master factorer, so you need a harder test. (to discourage cheating or looking at the answer key)

Me: *tries to get the harder test on purpose*

Algebra I Teacher: this
By the way, I didn't make that link. It says who did on the bottom.

Math jokes

Let's define n:
n ∉ ℤ
n < 0

y = bx + m

∫ddddd = dddd/4

∫dc = c + c = 2c

To be honest most of these aren't even jokes, they're just cursed

Math jokes

dy/dx = x/y
cross multiply: xdx = ydy
cancel out the d's: xx = yy
x^2 = y^2
y = ±√(x^2)

edit: i originally had it as 2x/y because i was copying straight off of my actual class notes but then realized it's a bit clearer without the 2

-18 = 1/∞
-10 = 1/0

tan(pi) = sin(pi)/cos(pi) = n(sqrt(-1))/0c = ∞

Teacher: Alright class, what is 2⁸ × 3⁴ × 5² × 7?

Student: 10!

Teacher: Correct!

(More of a riddle than a joke, but I think it still fits.)

anything can equal 10 in base (answer)
is that the explanation?

Not unless you're talking about base-3,628,800. The explanation is that 10! (10 factorial) is equal to 3,628,800 and so is 2⁸ × 3⁴ × 5² × 7. (the prime factorization of that number) So, instead of the student saying 3,628,800, they're saying 10! (10 factorial) which can be misunderstood as just 10 with an exclamation mark at the end.
This explanation was a little longer than I wanted it to be.

l'hospital's rule: when you use quotient rule instead of differentiating the numerator and denominator separately, and your teacher has anger management issues.

My teacher had anger management issues because someone said “derivitate” instead of “differentiate”.
He didn't really have anger management issues, my teacher was super nice.

Me: *makes improper fraction*
Algebra I Teacher: ok
Pre-Algebra Teacher: FIX IT.

My pre-alg teacher was actually a pretty cool person, but she was SO STRICT during math.

My teacher has anger management issues whenever someone says “L'hospital's” instead of “L'hopital's”
