Scratch 3.0 Offline Editor on Windows7?

Hello,

is the Scratch offline Editor (Scratch Desktop Setup 3.6.0.exe) compatible with Windows 7? I'm teaching Scratch in an Elementary School with oooold Win7-PCs, and the Online Editor doesn't run properly, so I'd like to use the Offline Editor. On the download page it says Win10, but maybe it does indeed run on Win7, too?!

Thanks.

Scratch 3.0 Offline Editor on Windows7?

TLDR: Maybe. According to the Scratch Wiki:
For Scratch to run properly, the following minimum system requirements are needed:

Windows 10 or later or macOS 10.13 or later, though users have reported successfully running the editor on Windows 7
Approximately 400 MB of free hard drive space

However, if the online editor doesn't work properly, the offline editor wouldn't either.

I tried it on my dad's old computer which runs Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP(long story), the 3.0 editor still worked, but it worked very slow.
So I would give a yes, but beware some lag.

It's possible, but it takes a long time to adapt it.

Ok, I am currently using a Windows 7 so the Scratch Offline Editor does work and it can be a little glitchy sometimes. Also, the Online Editor should work unless your model came out 2009, or something like that.

Scratch 3.0 Offline Editor on Windows7?

I use Windows 7, proof here:
My browser / operating system: Windows 7, Chrome 80.0.3987.106, No Flash version detected
and it works fine.
The only problem is that it doesn't install the icon, so I can't use the start menu to find it, or anything like that.

Scratch 3.0 Offline Editor on Windows7?

Thanks for your help. Unfortunately I was informed that I'm not allowed to install Scratch 3 Offline Editor, I can only choose from a certain pool of programs and there is only Scratch 2 available.

Which brings me back to my original problem: the not working online editor.
I'm using the latest Firefox, no extensions active / fresh profile. I load the scratch website. Everything loads fine but - in the right upper window where the cat should be visible, there is nothing. Just a white area. The cat is there, you can move it if you click at the spot where it should be and the position values change accordingly, but it's invisible. And no, the visibility of the cat is of course set to on. Whatever I do, the right top area stays blank, even if I add a background or another sprite. There's no way to get the content visible! This makes programming impossible.

I have no idea what's wrong with the editor. It happens on all 15 school computers. In December all was working, now it's broken and the admins of the school say they haven't change anything regarding Firefox.

Is there anyone who had the same problem?

Scratch uses WebGL for drawing sprites. You can check if WebGL works in your browser here.

Please don't necropost. Necroposting is when you post on an abandoned or old topic which bumps it to the front page.
