Scratch 2.0 SoundFont

This is pretty cool. Only problem there is are the synths and the harp.
I think Scratch should add more instruments.

Yeah that's because there is 21 instruments but is mapped to the 128 GM slots so that the “Orchestral Strings” is to the “Cello” and all the synth instruments and sound effects are just mapped to “Synth Pad”.
I did create a Scratch 3.0 (Music Extension) soundfont but I haven't shared it yet because I may be so lazy (even of changes).

Scratch 2.0 SoundFont

So, I suppose it is the Scratch 2.0 output of when the MIDI blocks from 1.4 are played in 2.0.

Is this the same soundfont file? https://musical-artifacts.com/artifacts/717

There's also a soundfont of Scratch 3.0: https://musical-artifacts.com/artifacts/720

I tried out 3.0 from that website and I tested it on SynthFont and almost none of the instruments match compared to the 2.0 version.

I misread the description when I download it and thought it said "21 more instruments and 18 drums" but then I checked back and my thoughts were completely wrong.

Because, uh, Scratch 3.0 is not the same as Scratch 2.0.

You can try out both soundfonts yourself.

Because, uh, a soundfont contains sounds inside, so of course it would be interpreted when opened as a raw sound.

I did that and it played a bunch of funny noises.

the soundfont's cool, but the distortion and overdrive guitars in the 2.0 soundfont sound nothing like what they're supposed to sound like. square wave also sounds like saw wave

All those electric guitar, lead, pad named patches are the alias of the one instrument (since they are just still 21 instruments mapped into the 128 GM patches according to Scratch's code).

Scratch 2.0 SoundFont

Scratch SoundFont is a soundfont that all the sounds are from Scratch 2.0's soundbank and to hear how MIDI files are played back in Scratch 2.0.
You can download this soundfont here.

(Scratch SoundFont Examples link is now currently unavailable since I will make better examples soon!)

Even if you don't have a soundfont player, you can also use this 3rd party Keppy's MIDI player/converter to try the soundfont out or convert MIDIs with the soundfont.

Note that Scratch's soundbank has 21 instruments put into the 128 GM instrument slots (e.g. GM Mapping, a la Casio LK-100, CTK-491, etc.), Drum (channel 10) numbers 35-81 are General MIDI drums, and drum numbers 0-17 are the 18 native Scratch drums.

If there are any problems with the soundfont or if there is a problem with the links, please leave me a post here for extra feedback.

UPDATE: I updated the soundfont by attempting to adjust the fine tuning of looped instrument samples to almost match the sound pitch of Scratch's sound.

Created in SynthFont Viena. I know there are other soundfont editors that can make a soundfont like this one!
time to play a black midi on this soundfont

Scratch 2.0 SoundFont

I am on a phone, I might try to download it on my computer later but on my phone it says “unsupported file type”. I’ll see if it works on my computer, if not I’ll just ask you to send the download link for like a zip file with the instrument samples in it.
