Default Icon Ideas!

I support this idea. I see this ugly default picture a lot. Can't we make default pictures cooler? We actually are making default pictures cooler now because of the Default Wars!

no offense but it seems like your wanting to control whether or not people get pfps they made themselves. and you can't control people.

to the op: Support those would do nicely as a defaults, more color, better graphics, and more choices.

No support. Isn't the default icon supposed to be bland so people will change it to something else? If the default icon is made interesting, it wouldn't encourage people to change their profile picture and Scratch would be full of these icons. And after a while, unique, non-default profile pictures would be a rare sight.

I think the idea is interesting…

Some Scratchers seem to have a problem with the default icons being more eye-catching since it wouldn't encourage Scratchers to make custom pfps, so maybe we can do something like this:
When Scratchers first make an account, there are random possibilities of getting different default pfps. For example, one account can get a Scratch Cat pfp (the current default), while another could get a Gobo pfp. Of course, there would be more default pfps, but this is just me throwing an idea out there.

This is basically what @eat-sleep-softball suggested, except you don't choose it. I feel like if you were to choose which default pfp you wanted, then this would not encourage getting your own custom pfp since you just picked a pfp you wanted.

I think what they are trying to say it that since this suggestion is suggesting nicer profile pictures, people are less likely to just change their profile pics to a custom one, unlike now where users may be more likely to change their profile picture because the current one isn't as nice. Understand?

What is wrong is that they will not choose it form the internet or make it themselves, encouraging less creativity on something that defines you on Scratch.

If people want to be more creative, then they would make their own pfp from the internet anyway.
Having more default profile pics won't keep away from that, at least not by much. It's still a default profile pic. If anything, people with default pfps will actually be a bit more identifiable with multiple different profile pics to choose from than just one.
In conclusion: support.

I think that this would be a really good idea. It would make scratch a brighter place and would give a little variety. Possibly we could tone down the colours a little from what the mock-up (which is brilliant, by the way) had so there is a little incentive to change it (makes browsing scratch easier when people have custom profile pictures so you don't mix them up) but otherwise I'm all for this!

No support. The default is the default. If you want the silhouette of a mascot, you can make it very easily. I find the default icon very nice and if you can upload it from your computer before joining then it is not a default icon.

Bruh being a scratcher is about how your profile pic looks its about your projects and what you do with them and the projects that make them happy

Support, the current ones are pretty bland and most people on Scratch have that icon, sort of like those icon trends. In fact, I made my own mockup as well. I know @stickfiregames made one but that it outdated and is from 2015. Now Scratch 3.0 is here and they redesigned the Join Scratch page. Here you can view it. Made by me in the Scratch Vector Editor.

I made the human icons but I used @theChAOTiC's Scratch icons. There is a gray choose a file button to select and image from your computer.
