X-Box Controller Extension
I have always liked creating games on Scratch where two or more people can play at the same time on the same device. I run into two problems that can make some types of games impossible for two or more people to play.
1. Squishing everyone at one keyboard.
2. Figuring out which keys are for which players so all players can easily access all of their keys at once.
I have tried to figure out how to overcome these problems. After thinking for a little while I had the idea “what if X-Box controllers where compatible with Scratch?” This could open so many opportunities!
1. Two player games would be much easier to make.
2. You could create intense games with all of the buttons that an X-Box controller has.
3. Instead of using W,A,S,D or the arrow keys to move a character in 90 or 45 degree angles you could use a joy-stick to move the character in any direction.
I think that the best way to for Scratch implement X-Box controllers would be to create a new “Extension” with special coding blocks for each button on the controller. There is a negative to having a X-Box controller extension. People that do not own a X-Box Controller would not be able to play games that require one.
Please tell me what you think of this idea. If you can think of another negative to having a X-Box controller extension please tell me.
Thank you for reading!

X-Box Controller Extension
Nice idea. Though scratch and microsoft are gonna have to come up with something to allow this, but this would be interesting to have.

Say why, it's not constructive if you don't support this without telling why. I don't support this.

X-Box Controller Extension
To have a x-box controller extension would require numerous changes to scratch, not to mention the highly unlikely chance that the scratch team OR Microsoft will both agree to this. Plus, what would it even look like?say why, it's not constructive if you don't support this without telling why. I don't support this.
and overall, I am pretty sure that this would make scratch harder to use, which goes against one of scratch's biggest ideas: that scratch should be easy to use. so no support whatsoever

X-Box Controller Extension
First of all I don't really see how this would make numerous changes to scratch. Secondly, since it would be an extension it would just look like the other extensions. It is true that it would be a little difficult to use but so is the Mindstorms extension. But I have to agree with you that it is unlikely that the Scratch team and Microsoft would both agree on it. If you have any other thoughts feel free to tell me.

dude, the scratch team would have to change the way blocks work (dragging, typing, etc.) First of all I don't really see how this would make numerous changes to scratch.

Oh… I think we are misunderstanding each other. I didn't mean adding X-Box controls for creating Scratch games. I meant adding another extension of blocks like (the Mindstorms extension) that would allow you to create games that require an X-Box controller to play. You can view the extensions that Scratch has by pressing the blue button underneath the list of block categories. I can see why you didn't support it if that is what you thought I meant.

O.K.
but creating scratch projects that require an X-Box controler? that sounds a little messed up to me…

I would find this an interesting feature, but I think projects should not require an Xbox to play. We should make Scratch compatible with Xbox, but not allow projects that require an Xbox to play.
