Working with stock images and sounds is great. I love that people make things and then have them online and available for everyone to use how they please. However, if I want to use something in a scratch project, I have to save it on my computer then import it into Scratch. This can take up precious space and time, and is especially bad when you have a slow computer that isn't very happy when one of those windows comes up prompting you to select a file and upload it online. I think Scratch should have a feature where you can import sprites, sounds, and images directly from a URL. Other websites like imgur, TinyPic, and tumblr have this function and I think it would be really nifty if Scratch did too!

No support. It could be used to upload images that are inappropriate for Scratch.

You can do that anyway? There's absolutely nothing stopping anyone from importing horrifyingimage.jpg right now and sharing it on Scratch. No support. It could be used to upload images that are inappropriate for Scratch.

Yeah. If that happens, ban them from Scratch. They might even upload *removed by pseudo-moderator, please don't reveal such details on Scratch*.jpg.You can do that anyway? There's absolutely nothing stopping anyone from importing horrifyingimage.jpg right this second and sharing it on Scratch. No support. It could be used to upload images that are inappropriate for Scratch.

True, so if you can upload anything you want, then I don't support it. Exactly! You just have to trust the moderators to do their job!

I don't understand??? I thought we just worked through this!True, so if you can upload anything you want, then I don't support it. Exactly! You just have to trust the moderators to do their job!
Right now, in scratch, you can already upload anything you want. Anything at all, you can upload inappropriate images and post them on Scratch. If you do that, the moderators will take down your project and probably ban you. This would make it easier to upload inappropriate images, yes, but it would also make it easier to upload literally anything else that can be used in your scratch project. You could import a massive SVG of a map of your favorite country from the Wikimedia Commons and use it in your scratch project.
Heck, I guess you could just have it so that images can only be uploaded from approved image hosts, like Wikimedia.

Lots of content at various URLs on the internet, including Wikimedia, may not be appropriate for young kids. Scratch may not want to give its implied blessing by allowing direct import from these sites.
For a slow computer or connection, one can always ask someone else to download the content and upload it to Scratch for them.
However, if the content alone is more than a computer can handle, having it in a project may not work very well.

Wikimedia is an approved image host on the forums. If they allow adding images from Wikimedia here, I don't see why they couldn't do it in the program. I really think this would have more benefits than drawbacks. Lots of content at various URLs on the internet, including Wikimedia, may not be appropriate for young kids. You may be right. But it is easier to review a comment for appropriateness than a project's multiple sprites, costumes, and backdrops. Wikimedia is an approved image host on the forums. Oh, no! You can say inappropriate things with the say and think blocks! They better be removed! And you can upload inappropriate costumes and backdrops! The ability to display images better be removed. Now that I think about it, any feature in the program could be used for inappropriate things. Let's just get rid of Scratch entirely! The end. No support. It could be used to upload images that are inappropriate for Scratch.

Well Scratch can already be used to upload images that are inappropriate for Scratch. No support. It could be used to upload images that are inappropriate for Scratch.
You might as well get rid of profile pictures and studio pictures just to prevent some of that.
