This would be quite useful. I already am starting on the development of Scratch-Server, sort of like this.

2.1 Adding users to work on projects
This would be difficult to moderate not only due to technological limitations, but also because it could lead to private messaging; for more information, see #7.1 on this list. This suggestion includes live editing (similar to Google Docs) and other forms of private collaboration. If you would like to work on a project with another Scratcher, you can remix each others' projects.

The Scratch Team is interested in making some form of collaboration on Scratch. However, until the problems regarding moderation issues are addressed, this suggestion will likely not be implemented anytime soon.

That's not the suggestion, the suggestion is to allow LAN connectivity. On a LAN network, the people know each other and can just talk with their voice. This suggestion is not rejected.

But then you can just talk with your voice.

More seriously, isn't there software to let you log into the same computer to work collaboratively?

If you know each other irl, what’s the point of collaborating online? Why not just use one computer?

The problem of one mouse for 2 people comes to mind.

But that defeats the purpose of working on the same project at the same time. Using one computer for two people is highly impractical.

Maybe compromise would be to only allow access to a project, to where they can't work on a project at the same time but they can still work on the same project, similar to the way WeVideo does it.

Wait… What's there to compromise?

Wait… What's there to compromise?

Having people work on a project at exactly the same time, instead allowing only 1 person to work on a project at a time

Ah, but is there need to compromise? I understand where you may be coming from, but I seem to be missing a few things…

-Snip-

It seems like it would be more technologically obtainable, seeing as the projects wouldn't have to be live, they would just have to allow other users to edit them.

This could be manipulated by two Scratchers who live in one city and don't know each other in real life.

How so? I feel there would have to be some very unlikely circumstances for this to happen. Seeing as they would both need to know each other somehow, to either
A) use external software to make a virtual LAN
or B) be within the same vicinity for wireless LAN

Nevermind, fair point.

In that case, it should be possible to set a password to enter the project editor.

That works, and makes it so that only who you give the password can join.
