One of my friends let me borrow his DS Lite and Fire Emblem for Game Boy Advance so I could give the series a try.
It's a really good game!

Are the GBA games a good place to start with the series?

Yes, FE7 has an in-depth tutorial while FE8 is more similar to the modern FEs. I'd say that if you've never played a Fire Emblem game before start with FE7, because if you already know how to play Fire Emblem and you want to play FE7 later sitting through the tutorial will be pretty annoying Are the GBA games a good place to start with the series?

Yes, my friend let me borrow Fire Emblem (The one with Lyn, Hector, and Eliwood) a few months ago. I've been playing it since mid-to-late January. Are the GBA games a good place to start with the series?
I've re-started a few times because of mistakes I've made or wanting to dry Hard Mode and Hector's story instead of Eliwood's.
Hard mode gives you more Exp and doesn't force you to do what the tutorial says during Lyn's missions. The friend that's letting me borrow the game thinks it's easier than Normal mode.
Also, Fire Emblem and Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones are on the Wii U eShop.
I want to get Sacred Stones at some point.
