Abandoned accounts
Scratch says it has 45.000.000 users.
Is this so?
there are actually millions of accounts with strange names, many follows, and that were
immediately abandoned. Accounts made for no reason. Still trying to figure out why
this is happens. scratch actually has only 200.000 REAL users and 44 million
soul-less accounts.

Actually, it says that Scratch has 50,000,000(50 million) users. To be more precise, there are currently 49,388,471 users registered on Scratch.
There are definitely some “dead” accounts out there. There are multiple reasons as to why this happens, such as:

- Deleted accounts
- Accounts that were from before Scratch 2.0 but are inactive
- Spam-bot users(there are sometimes some on the forums)
- Accounts that were created for no reasons just to take a common word, thing or object
- Accounts that used to be active on Scratch but are not active anymore
- People are leaving Scratch due to personal(as in real life) reasons
- People are moving on from Scratch and going into real programming languages or Snap!(A Scratch mod that is way more advanced than Scratch)

For ScratchStats I have a lot of user statistics about activity and ranking. Most of this collection is by following the tree of followers that go across the whole site (ex: griffpatch has x people he has following him, each one of those people has x amount of followers, and so on), I also have gotten information from newly published projects, and then the follower trees that go with that (a lot of student accounts follow each other)
From this information I have this:
Student/Teacher accounts: 2,696,157
New Scratchers: 1,303,003
Scratchers: 895,454
Deleted: 125,288
The highest user ID that I have is ~54,450,000, so that shows how many accounts have been created (IDs are linear on this site), and also how I only have <10% coverage of all users. This means that many accounts haven't followed anyone or released any public projects recently.

I Have One Of Those Accounts, Its Name IS DaBestCoding 2. But I Got Locked Out Of It Because I Forgot The PW And I Didn't Register An Email. I'd Like That Account Back. But Sending An Email To Scratch Didn't Help.

But Sending An Email To Scratch Didn't Help. Please don't use title case, (That Means Upper Case For The First Letter Of Every Word) as it is hard to read, did you use contact-us to contact the ST and ask for your account back? Also, I beleive you HAVE to register an email to make an account, so you may be able to use the forgot password link when signing in…

Is @gdpr0000001 a abandoned account? he is a strange onePlease don't necropost - that is, posting on old topics. To answer your question, the short answer is no, the slightly less short answer is sort of, and the long answer is here. (After looking at that I realised that it wasn't that long but oh well)

Apperently, necroposting doesn't exist according to some, so as long as your post is related to the topic, it won't count as necroposting. He was simply asking about gdpr and if it was a dead account or not
I feel like the same applies to Roblox. There are 2 billion users, but most of them are bots, dead accounts, or banned accounts. Only a sliver of that 2 billion actually plays once a month. I haven't played roblox in a while because I lost permission too(a permission I hope to get back soon)
