A more powerful Scratch?
Just use Forkphorus and optimize stuff like people have said before - even you understand this costs too much money! You don't want Scratch to be a pay-to-use website, right? They're already trying their best to be a non-profit organization.

A more powerful Scratch?
To @skaficionado:

You have to realise that in the end, Scratch is only make for kids to start coding, not for Microsoft/@griffpatch to make a 3D racing game. But the way you have put it is not just insulting; it is also confusing. Water resistance? Virtual assistant? Are you talking about your computer or Scratch? I really don't agree with your points, and again, you have actually insulted the Scratch Team. If you could read some of the posts on this thread, and think about them and what you have said, then make a non-insulting suggestion, that would really help.

Here's a short list of the standards that Scratch should strive to meet that it doesn't already:I was the one who suggested this in the first place, and even I think that is too much for the Scratch team!
- Be turing complete
- Water resistance (to comply with ISO 6425)
- Debug mode
- Better markup support
- Virtual assistant (like Siri, Cortana etc)
- Mission statement
- Shock resistance
- Hyperrealistic graphics engine
- Automatic zoom
- Integrated stylus
- Support for Unix-based operating systems
- Cultural relevance
- Battery support (I'm tired of having to lug around an AC adaptor when I want to use Scratch)
Yes. Make Scratch harder, better, faster, stronger. Scratch is simply too outdated to be relevant in our modern times. The way I put it was so that people would get that:
- People are getting smarter and making more complex projects, and…
- Scratch isn't powerful enough for those projects. Consequently…
- Scratch will soon be too slow for its users.
- Scratch isn't powerful, and…
- It is too easy, and…
- It is not good enough, and…
- It is too outdated for modern life.

With Moore's Law, it wouldn't even be a problem.Moore's Law is dying, things like graphene or photonic processors would be a much better alternative, possibly more affordable too.

I think you've captured my point of view very well here. Scratch is designed to be an introductory programming language - we want it to be very easy to learn. More complex tasks will find a better fit with other languages. For those that want to stay with block-based programming, check out the Snap language - based on Scratch but designed for more complex tasks. Also in that same category is the GP language.WHAT IS THE USE OF SCRATCH THEN?
The role of scratch is an introduction to programming. That's just it, an introduction. Sure, scratchers like griffpatch may make extremely complex games like Paper Minecraft in scratch, but that's not really what scratch is designed for. If you want a more powerful language, try something like python or some other programming language.
So I don't think the ST will make scratch more powerful. It's meant as an introduction to programming, and more complex projects are better suited for other languages.
