My opinion on the remix trees:
So far it looks good, but it does lack a few things. I actually enjoyed the old remix trees - the new ones are very laggy and aren't as nicely designed. As far as the “tree” part goes, it feels a bit forced (thanks to the limits on projects in the tree that are on-screen at a time). It would have been better to just work off of the old design. And if it is a tree, why is it all square and grey?
If I recall correctly, wasn't there some sort of rainbowy remix visualization that was WAY back before I even came to Scratch 2.0 alpha? I enjoyed that design better.
All in all, it is pretty good. Could use some ironing out, though.
Hi FireNinjaGAME, I was wondering if you could tell me what you liked more about the old remix trees? Also, what browser are you using? (the lagginess of the trees depends a lot on the browser right now, and we'll be working on speeding it up.)

Unshared projects that are leaf nodes (edge of tree) still show up though which seems a little weird. All the “unshared” projects on the tree have been shared at some point (so maybe a person shared and then unshared or deleted that project.) We have to show those because people may have remixed those projects while they were shared. It won't show never-shared projects.
Sometimes projects get really really small though. there should be a minimum size.
also what's with the ground? the colors need a little work to make it more, you know, tree like.
Hi scratchisthebest, did you realize you could zoom by scrolling your mouse? We were hoping the projects becoming smaller wouldn't be a problem since users could zoom in to see them, but let me know if that feels inconvenient.

Looks good! I especially like the background.
I don't really like the grey color for the branches, it doesn't seem very tree-like to me.
I agree!

Sometimes images don't load. maybe it's just my browser/poopternet but yeah that shouldn't happen.
It seems that projects get small really fast, though: projects are almost unclickable after 6 or 7 remixes. This makes viewing trees for “add yourself” projects and other remix chains hard because you're dragging the mouse all over the place.
I wouldn't mind seeing less projects on each “page” if they were larger. Or maybe there can be a “show more projects on this branch” button on long (5+ projects) chains so projects wouldn't be so small.

I'm not sure if this is a bug or not, but when you have a project with no remixes, the remix button says one remix. The “remix” is actually the original project that it's counting as a remix. You (editors) should probably change that.

no bug, it says how many projects are on the remix tree. 1 is on it because of the original project. Hey, on my projects Mandelbrot set shading and Mandelbrot set shading (With More Shades!), one (The second one) is based off of another (The first one) via the “save as a copy” button in the editor. I had hoped this would work like a remix of my initial project, but instead, it produced another remix of the project the first had come from. Sorry, that's worded kinda badly, but is that supposed to happen, because I can't figure out how to remix my own project.

Glitch report: I made a copy of my project, and changed the cover picture of the copy, but not my original. On the remix tree the cover picture of the copy and the cover picture of the original look the same, both like the copy! Can you fix that, or maybe it was something temporary?

What if even if the project was a remix, it would appear as the first project on the tree, and the project it was based on and all projects below would appear as “roots” sort of an upside-down tree under the tree.

http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1897019/Go to this project:
Click on the tree.
Try to find that project in the tree. It isn't there.
Wow weird, it's not even drawing the background. I'll look into it.
It has been over a month. Are you still looking into this?

Probably not, but it is best to keep it up so that people can actively (and openly) contribute suggestions.

Sorry, yes I looked into this issue and a couple similar cases. I fixed the bit where it wasn't drawing the background, but what's happening is that some project isn't recording the right parent (or any parent), or some parent isn't recording all its children, and when we draw the tree it doesn't know to look up and draw the parts that are missing. Unfortunately I don't know why that would be happening, I'll go manually fix this case.
