This took an enormous amount of memory to create, and was incredibly laggy and buggy. That's why this effect was removed.

This block was removed since it could never be stopped, according to the Scratch Wiki.

You're saying that Scratch 1.4 existed but never existed.

In this build, the block design starts to resemble that of later beta builds and Scratch 1.x. “Stretch” blocks are apparent here and they have already appeared as back as the October 13, 2004 build; the blocks have been removed in the following build from May 28, 2005.
