Long sound files do not edit

My browser / operating system: Windows 7, Chrome 76.0.3809.132, No Flash version detected

If you have a sound file that's about 1 minute or higher then you will be unable to edit it. If you want to delete part of it, you are forced to delete more than half of it and it's just ridiculous.

Please fix it. It is my top second problem

I am also experiencing this problem. It is very unfortunate especially when you are trying to create a MAP.

From this post that I'm just quoting because I'm too lazy to rewrite it specifically for this topic:

I just discovered something important that I think may fix your issue -

As I've said before, there is an asset limit of 10 MB which applies to images, the code and audio, with audio being the most often cause of a project refusing to save. You can import MP3 and WAV files into Scratch, but the Scratch sound editor only supports WAV files, meaning that all sounds that have been manipulated using the sound editor are also converted to WAV. Since WAV is a significantly larger format than MP3 due to it being completely uncompressed and lossless, it means that an MP3 file that may have fit within the 10 MB limit when you imported it into Scratch would've grown in size to over 10 MB as a WAV file. Since all of the buttons in the sound editor trigger this file conversion, you are unable to use any of the sound editor buttons, hence your problem about the sound editor not working.

Best solution I have is to edit your sounds in an external audio program and import them into Scratch as MP3 files, without doing anything to them in the sound editor.

Then you shouldn't be affected too much by the sound editor issue. I do think that there should be some message if the sound in the Scratch sound editor can't be edited because it would end up becoming too big, though I don't know how a description of that could be written that everyone could understand

It always seems to work on the Desktop Editor.

What website do you use? I'm having problems with an animation, and I really want to get it finished with as much of the song as I can get. I was thinking about doing it in two halves, but I have had problems like this before and I was hoping it would be fixed by now.

Websites and browsers are a HUGE difference.

A broswer is something you use to access the internet

A website is like the one you're using to look at this

It has to do something with encoding. When i edit a too big sound file that doesn't edit, the developer tools (press ctrl+shift+J) will say: ‘gui Refusing to encode sound larger than 10000000 bytes’
