I think it's fine… if you are making an AMV or PMV, you should make it an alien blaster or lazer tag gun.

I have a project that has an excerpt of pumped up kicks in it that hasn't been taken down, but it's more of a meme.

Since it doesn't directly say anything offensive, I think it would be ok. As long as you use it in a good way, example: no bloody animations or somthing, and using it as a meme or educational project.

I'd say it's borderline, as it got banned on some radio stations after the Sandy Hook shooting

I listened to it as a kid and thought it was a pretty nice song to listen to. However looking back and listening to the lyrics now, I can see how this song contains content that may not be suitable for Scratch, so I'm not sure if the ST's response would either be from a more lyrical and analytical standpoint or from “this song doesn't have swearing and it's a good tune”.

I'd try seeing if you can get a instrumental of that song, since I know of a lot of other songs that sound good but would have lyrics that when interpreted would definitely not be appropriate for a children's programming website.

Juding the appropriateness of a song purely based on if they swear or not isn't the best idea, since the song doesn't have swearing in it but the content itself that it describes could be an issue

Yeah like the song itself doesn't swear but some of the lyrics involve a kid planning and carrying out a shooting. Would it be best to just use the instrumental version?

Yeah… instrumental version would probably be better if you want to stay on the safe side.

You could perhaps make a less dark parody of the song.
