Scratch Class Account (Deleting Student Accounts) Recommendations
1) No support. If this happens, I'd suggest resetting their password (to something you know), logging into their account and then completing the account deletion process (in Account Settings).
2) Support. I think the ability to unshare, delete, etc would be very helpful.
3) Make it clear to the class to set up the accounts correctly, and if they don't, go through the deletion process I described above (and also have a chat with said students).
4) Delete the excess as mentioned above.
5) Talk to the students in person. That isn't okay no matter what.

Scratch Class Account (Deleting Student Accounts) Recommendations
Whilst creating classes of accounts for my students and teachers I mistakenly uploaded a.csv file to the wrong class. It seems that I cannot correct this mistake easily, either by deleting the accounts or moving them to the correct class. The only way I can see to correct my 1 second lapse in concentration is by logging into each new account individually and requesting the account be deleted from within. Then I have to wait up to 2 days before the account is actually deleted, before I can re-upload the .csv again and create the users in the correct place.
This is very frustrating and time consuming. Why haven't you given school admins the power to manage the accounts they create properly?
Thinking ahead - this is going to cause an admin nightmare at the end of the year when children leave and our classes are rearranged. For example, we have 4 forms in each year group and each year there is some setting and movement between them. But there doesn't seem to be a way of moving pupil accounts between classes, or an easy way of deleting the accounts and re-creating them. So come September, 200-odd accounts are going to be out of date and arranged incorrectly, without an easy way to sort it out.
Please let me know if I am missing something. At present it looks to me like this system is half baked and best to give a wide birth.

i agree, a teacher function within classrooms where we can move students from class to class throughout the year and even for following years would be much more efficient. It looks like scratch 2.0 still uses the original scratch software in the backend for the admin/classroom/profiles functions etc? Thanks for the feedback.

Scratch Class Account (Deleting Student Accounts) Recommendations
This is more of a suggestion:
I realized after the fact that a teacher of a class account cannot delete student accounts. This defeats the purpose of having a class account for many reasons:
1) Students drop/move out of the class and needs to be removed.
2) Students post inappropriate content which includes usernames, comments, projects.
3) Students don't follow instructions with setting up their account and as a result they create accounts that the teacher cannot properly identify.
4) Students create multiple accounts.
5) Students bullying other classmates.
Greater control of the class needs to be given to the teacher who is also the administrator. Perhaps this was an oversight with the MIT team, until additional safeguards are added, I cannot move forward with using Scratch with my class. There are way too many lapses for potential issues with school administrators, parents and students.
In addition, with the shift in educational technology moving towards more online learning management systems such as Moodle, Google Classroom. Migrating Scratch to use existing accounts like Google, Facebook would greatly simplify the registration process. Students don't have to register and create an additional username/password.
In short, this is a great enhancement for our classroom instruction, however, with the limited control the teachers have, it has created a logistical nightmare to manage. Hopefully in the future the MIT can address these issues.
In this day of distance teaching and learning, it is more imperative than ever that teachers be given greater control of accounts within a class or section. Please consider providing teachers with the ability to delete sham accounts. At this point, we are limited to changing the password so kids can no longer access those accounts.

i want to recover my student account but class ended is there a way and if i contact scratch team will they get it back?Like I said here, it’s possible the Scratch Team could recover your account/projects if you contact them using the Contact Us link at the bottom of each page. I don’t know for sure if they can recover it however; it depends on how school accounts are deleted.

Support, but only as long as the student's keep their account's, just its not registered under the teacher anymore, and the user would have to reset their email
^ This would be the one thing that I would prefer being put in, mostly because what happens when someone loves scratch, and then all of a sudden, the class is gone and their account is deleted, imagine further if the person DOESN'T HAVE THEIR OWN EMAIL and can't make another account, then what?
I understand that with remote learning, teachers might want more control, but when the class goes and all the accounts go with it, you're gonna end up with some heartbroken students. I'm not in a school account but I have a lot of scratch friends who are in school accounts and I would miss them a ton if they were forced to leave :/- itchdog

Scratch Class Account (Deleting Student Accounts) Recommendations
I am not sure if anyone has suggested this yet, but I will write it here:
You want to delete an account:
1. Go into the teacher area and change their password to DeleteMe or something else.
2. Log in as them on Scratch
3. Go to Account Settings (on the student account)
4. ENSURE you are logged into THE STUDENT ACCOUNT
5. Press I want to delete my account and follow through the instructions
6. When you get an email about deletion, please confirm it if the username in the email is the one you want to delete.
Step 4 is VERY important, if you do this wrong, you could end up deleting all of your students and yourself

Scratch Class Account (Deleting Student Accounts) Recommendations
I just followed all these instructions to delete several student accounts. It was a pretty time-consuming way to remove students from classes, but I thought it was worth my time.
They are still in the class. The students don't need their extra accounts, but they exist, making it harder for me to find and help the real student accounts.
I teach 8-10 classes a year in tech, and having to remove students this way is just not sustainable. Then for it not to work?

* this scratch account I use for development, and I just found out that I can not leave the class so it will stop showing on my profile? Im just going to create a new account and steal all my own assets from my own game. Thats the easiest thing I can do.

Scratch Class Account (Deleting Student Accounts) Recommendations
Hi all,
I am just setting up a class for the first time and yes, there needs to be more control to edit a students account! As I am testing out student logins for the first time, I have already created a few accounts that I don't need. I think there should be an “Edit class” and “Edit students” menu where one could change the accounts and names (for example when moving up a grade).

I had a student create multiple accounts because she kept forgetting her passwords. I reset her password and then had her go in to a number of the extra accounts and delete them. When I signed in to scratch during the next period, I noticed that the accounts that the student deleted still appear in my class. Should they not disappear if the student has deleted the account? How can I prevent these accounts from appearing in my class?

Scratch Class Account (Deleting Student Accounts) Recommendations
I had one student make 3 accounts and only 1 is active. I have a class of 20 but 31 accounts in scratch. I had my student log in and delete but the account is still in my class. What do I do now cause I am past aggravated with the 11 extra accounts and when I ask my kids if the account is the right one they say yes and turns out because they are all similar it is the wrong account. Please help.

They can probably just click the sign up link multiple timesI agree, could you explain 4 in detail? I agree with the rest of it, though. So you mean that the class can only have one account? No. He is suggesting that the Teacher should have more power to control their students, including issuing bans or account deletions to their students.
Could you explain problem 4 in greater detail please? I can't seem to figure out why creating multiple accounts is an issue.
TheDrawers
I have a few students who created more than one account. Not sure how they're doing it, but it showing up with similar usernames.
Will edit when u read all post
