Can I add an existing Scratch account to my class?
Only accounts created by the teacher can be part of a class. However, we are looking into adding this functionality in later versions.

I don't think existing accounts can be added to a class. You have to give them the link to sign up or create accounts for them.

You need to have them create a new account via the link you create on your class page or make their accounts yourself. You can't add already existant Scratch accounts to a classroom. The students will be able to set their avatar once they create their account/sign in to the one you made for them.
