Also, the backpack is fairly slow with loading. It would be even slower than duplicating.
On my side, the backpack is extremely fast on loading — perhaps because mine is emptier?

The backpack being slow is a problem to be fixed on itself, I think we shouldn't add a new feature to justify not fixing another.

There's no sideways scroll bar in the palette meaning big blocks will get cutoff very quickly
