Scratch needs a built in dictionary
I support this suggestion, for the following reasons:
- For reasons and facts I have stated above, the dictionary would NOT take up a lot of space, nor would have to be copied for each project. The dictionary would not even have to be stored on the Scratch servers (rather the servers could “view” the dictionary on another server).
- The dictionary could come in handy for numerous projects.
- The dictionary would not have to be translated by google translate. Instead, users around the world could help create the dictionary.

IM ALSO A JAPANESE SPEAKER!!Maybe it can have other language dictionaries? No support, it's too hard to make other languages' dictionaries for STwhat will happen
(A few ST members can speak them
word tense of 買った - 3 in Japanese
random 助詞 (not in English)
random preposition (not in Japanese)
AS A JAPANESE SPEAKER, I'M AGAINST IT!

No support.
Aside from being an extremely tedious job for the Scratch Team to make a dictionary when so many good ones already exist (even if they just copied from a reputable dictionary it would still be a lot of work), it can't be that hard to go to marriam-webster.com or something.
Overall, in my humble opinion such a proposal wouldn't really solve any problems.

Way too many languages, way too few use cases.
If you really need this, you can download a text file of dictionary words and create a list, right click, and click “import”. Every new line is a new item in the list. That way, you can have thousands of words with minimal effort.

I support it as an extension. Or maybe when you right click a list, one of the options (other than import/export) is dictionary. It's extremely difficult to find full, clean dictionaries, especially like bleach clean (not even controversial words like “stupid”) online. A Scratch dictionary would be nice.

The reason you won’t just copy an online list is because of some blocks early in the topic.

Support.
I was once creating a game called Random Noun Generator and for the nouns I had to make a list with 400+ nouns. I am a young writer that ones to become a professional one, so this extension would be extremely useful for me!
Also, adding tons of items to a list causes severe lag because that happened with RNG when I was adding in some new nouns. Adding this shouldn't be too difficult, the ST used the Google Translate API for creating the translate extension and for this one they could use the help of Merriam-Webster API.

Support. That's convenient, and could probably be added no problem, but what about all other languages Scratch supports?

See this project: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/336894008/
I created a little dictionary, which will already be there in the real feature, and added a script that converts all the words in it into Dutch ones using the translate extension. This is just a little example of how you could change the dictionary to have words from other languages in it. The script is really, really easy to redo and not at all complicated. Reconsider your post now.

Machine translation is *highly* unreliable. Many English words have many different translations into different words in other languages. Like the word “chest”. It might mean a place for storage or a part of the body. The word “mine”, might mean the act of mining, an explosive device, or something in your possession. The word “fan” might mean an electric fan, those chinese thingies, a verb, or it might mean that you like something. All of these have different words in my language (In Portuguese, respectively: baú, peito, mina, meu, ventilador, leque, abanar, fã. Three words in English, eight in Portuguese). How do you know which one to use?-snip-

Oh, I did not think of that. Well, I semi-support this suggestion due to this new issue.

Why don’t they ask for volunteers who speak those languages? This is the only issue we can find, so it may take a while, and lots of bug reports. But this could be created.
