Before we begin, I'd like to admit that I am very mature and responsible. Also I try to keep the Scratch site as good as it can be by reporting spambots and necroposts. Please keep this in mind as you read through the following.

I went through at least three different accounts. All of them were banned at some point. Two of them permanently (though these with good reason) and the last one for 10 days. This is my fourth account and a few hours ago, I was banned by another Scratcher, thankfully this time for only an hour. Do I have a curse of the ban? That was the longest hour of my life.

My point is that even if a user has changed their behavior (like I have), they are still vulnerable. As I said above, I got targeted a few hours ago and banned all because of my really spammy behavior when I was FIRST at the site. I do not do that anymore and would never think of doing that again.

So ST members, I would like to submit a proposal that all activity prior to ~365 days ago not be taken into account during bans and assume that, for instance, if a banned user had horrifying behavior 11 months ago, but exceptionally good and helpful behavior in the past 7 months, that they remain exceptionally good and helpful throughout the forseeable future. This “good” user may turn out to be an ST member someday.

With that, I ask that we stop banning helpful users that began their Scratch life… by putting the wrong foot forward.

Maybe we can make a ‘suspicious’ mode, achieved by what TheHockeyist was describing.
Anyone who is under suspicious mode will be checked up on every week or so, but will gain near unlimited usage of Scratch. If criminal activity is done under suspicion, they will be banned permanently.
Could we do that?

How will he get his account back? It's permanent. Also, the Scratch Team has hundreds of messages coming to them, and his ban removal appeal is just one of them.

Of course, it is very unfair if you get banned for something that happened in the past.

About the permanent ban thing… that was only on two of my accounts. Both of them I appealed, but the ST rejected. The third and fourth were let off with a warning, the third more harsh. The fourth was just “Okay, so these idiots got you banned. We'll unblock your account, just try not to bring it up again if you don't want this to happen again.”

I looked through the project, and it may have been because you said “the mods will hate you”–they don't. They will just ban you if they feel you need a ban.

Also, you really shouldn't try to get around a ban with another account…

As I said… I have changed. Also, for those not aware, my previous accounts were deleted by the ST, the first two because of my behavior, the third because I asked them to (I didn't like my username).

I wanted to rejoin the community, but I lost my accounts. Simple as that.

Then appeal, saying you want to make another account. Let them know.

Whenever I appealed, I said that I wanted that account back. If the appeal failed, appeal again. If the mods ignore me, wait a few months and make another account. Rinse and repeat. But anyway, the mods don't hate me now, but the problem is I'm still vulnerable.
