See someone is replying

I think it would be great if there is a message under someone's comment like this: @Someone is replying… so we can see someone is replying to a comment.

Maybe it's not very useful for other people, but I really need this, because I am an SDS helper. I frequently ninja'd other curators' comments, it ended up having two or more people answering to one's comment with similar statements.

So if this feature should be implemented, it may decrease the chance of getting ninja'd.(I think) So that when a curator is replying to a comment, I will not answer to the same comment that they are replying.

Support! Although I think since profiles aren't instant messengers, it will take some restructuring to implement.

It's still annoying, especially if you spent a while making the reply.

Semi support.

This really wouldn't be that useful in any other scenarios.

As a privacy thing I generally dislike it when people can see if I'm responding to their messages or not. I think having this feature would put more pressure on you to respond to comments as soon as you get them (if you're having an active conversation).

It's worth noting that this would basically only function well as a feature if it appears alongside live comments, i.e. as soon as someone responds to a comment on your page it will show up on your screen too (without reloading). Otherwise you can't know whether someone posted a comment or just stopped typing. (There could be an “@Username replied - reload to view” button, but that would be difficult to implement for the same reasons – if the ST coded that, they may as well implement proper live comments instead.)

I think that makes this sort of an addition to the real-time chat suggestion? (NB: it says “This is NOT private chat. Just instant updating.”, i.e. live commenting.) There's probably some discussion on that thread which is relevant here.

Correct, ST has rejected the idea of real-time chat previously.
