Is there a way to know if a song is copyrighted?

I've thinking on using a song (up, Up and Away by the Fifth dimension) But I'm not sure if it's copyrighted. Is there a way to know if a song is copyrighted?

Everything is under copyright (major simplification but whatever). Some music producers allow people to use their songs royalty free - even without express permission first.
If there is no definitive answer for if you are allowed to use a piece of music or if it isn't clear what license it's under (Creative Commons grants freedoms in this regards) then it is most likely that said piece of music / song is not free for anyone to use.

Note that because this is an educational site, generally you can use music in projects without it getting taken down (as long as it's not the main focus), but if you really don't like taking any form of chances, just don't use any music that was made by anyone except you at all in any way.

That depends on if the license that the song from Youtube has. There is quite a bit of royalty free music out there on Youtube.
