What's a simple and cheap way to play Mario Kart Double Dash?

I want to play Mario Kart Double Dash. But I haven't got a GameCube, and I don't want to bother my parents to get one since it costs a lot of money.

Is there any other way I can play this game at a simpler price?

GameCubes aren’t too expensive on Amazon. I don’t know about the games themselves though

Ryrie lives in Australia though, so I searched up Nintendo Gamecube on Australian Amazon and all I got were Gamecube controllers. You have to use the US version of Amazon to see any offerings for the actual console itself, and they still may be out of the price range for Ryrie, considering the parents.

If you've got a Wii, you could use the backwards compatibility on there (and even if you don't have one, I'd imagine it'd still be far cheaper to get second-hand than a GameCube, so the costs will be lighter). Then you'll only have to worry about getting a copy of the game.

Original Wii (Wii minis and the Wii U won't work), off-brand GC memory card, OFFICIAL Gamecube Controller (off-brand controllers aren't very good and a pre-owned official controller is around 20 or 25 dollars), and a copy of the game from eBay or a retro game store. I do NOT recommend Amazon if you want to save money. For example: Amazon lists Super Mario Sunshine for $200+ for a used copy, but I found mine at a local game store for around $40.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that.

I asked Dad about it, and he's thinking about it right now.

I searched Mario Kart Double Dash on Google Shopping and only found one copy that was 80 dollars. However, like Spycapt54 said, real game stores might sell a used copy of the game for a smaller price. So maybe there's hope.

Because of how the Wii runs GameCube games, you'll need a memory card if you want to save your game(s). They aren't terribly expensive, though, and the off-brand one I use works just fine.

Mario Kart: Double Dash is pretty popular in terms of GameCube games, I'd say. As a result, I would think that you'd have quite a bit of trouble looking for them in physical stores.

There are stores online that you can look at to buy things. I do have one in mind that usually worked very good for me, but I don't think I could link it here. It starts with an L.

Thanks for making me immediately think of Luigi and those Lootbox companies that send assorted pop culture stuff as a subscription service.

Don't worry, it's not some sort of loot box website!
It's a “surprise mechanic”. /s

Ooh, found another copy that costs 65 dollars. There might be hope after all!

I found a 16MB memory card that costs $8.47. Is that good enough?
I can't find a price on Gamecube Controllers yet because I don't know which type of controllers the Wii accepts. Wired or wireless?

Finally…

But you can get a Captain Marvel blanket, it's a steal! /s

65 dollars for one Gamecube game? That doesn't sound like it's worth that, despite how good Double Dash is.

On the back of your Wii, do you see four circular controller ports and two memory card slots? If so, then your Wii can work with Gamecube stuff, and you can buy an original Gamecube controller for it.

Wait, the controller ports are on the back? Do I have to turn my Wii around to use a controller?

Just plug them into the back, but keep your Wii facing the front. Hopefully the cable's long enough

Okay, I'll see if there's a wired Gamecube controller then.

EDIT: I found a controller that costs 5 dollars. Is it off-brand?

They're actually located under the top flap if I'm not mistaken:

My Wii is actually horizontal.
Where's the Gamecube controller ports on this model?
