Can you give an example of a project that has transparent sprites that doesn't use ghost effect? That way we can see what you are trying to do.

How Do I Make A Transparent Sprite?
They used the bucket fill tool and if you notice there are two color blocks near where you can choose colors. Pick one color, click on those 2 blocks that is one if front of another and they will flip. Then pick transparent as the second color. Then flip them back.
Look at the bottom left after clicking on the bucket, you'll see there are 4 types of fill. Solid fill, top down, side to side and middle out. Choose top down and dump your paint. You'll see it will start at the top color and fade to the second color which you wanted transparent.

Also if your trying in the new scratch and you want to do the fade thing and make one part non transparent and the other part transparent just choose the colors and for one of the parts choose the white thing with the red line across it. It will work

Please don't necropost, which bumps the topic onto the front page of the forum and also bumps another topic off the front page. Thank you!

I mean ultimately this question was answered and the solution provided does still work… isn't this well overdue for a thread close?
