option to make it so you click a script twice to start it, not once

Alright to make this clear: THIS IS OPTIONAL

When you left click on a script even a single time, it runs it. If you duplicate a script, then place it somewhere in a script, it runs it. It's annoying, and sometimes messses up the project.
Make it optional in the Account Settings to have “double left-click” or “single left-click” to activate scripts.

No support

This feature is useful when you want to test a specific script, and I don't have issues with accidentally clicking my scripts, so I don't see why this is required.

Semi-support. I don't see an issue with making it an option, off by default, but (as someone who has this issue) i don't think it should become the new norm.

It already WAS the norm in Scratch 2.0.

Because it's for not just you, it's for everyone. Either way, it's not like it removes testing a script, it just makes it harder to accidentally start a script.

And it's optional!

Are you sure? I have the newest version of scratch 2 (v461) and it runs when I only click once (also I don't remember ever needing to click twice to run scripts—maybe it was the norm before I joined?). On scratch 2 clicking twice only runs the script once, so maybe you were just clicking twice without realizing that you only actually needed to click once.

Partial support. I've run so many scripts accidentally, but clicking once saves time (and the 10 million clicks they say my mouse can take). I don't really want to go the extra hassle, but either way it kind of annoys me, double click or single click.

Infrequently active.

It feels weird to see how far we've come. I hope you're well, wherever you are!

Partial Support. I think that it should be optional as to if a script would run if you clicked it once or twice. This would provide extra customisability for the person, which I think is a direction that Scratch is going in, with a planned dark mode, a way of changing the block sizes etc.

The only issue I’ve ever had is when you snap blocks together sometimes the script runs, but I’ve never had a problem with actually clicking the whole thing

You could have problems with a laptop trackpad, as sometimes mine has detected a click when I was just moving the cursor with it, but it doesn't happen that often.

It takes like, a millisecond more time.

True.

Gonna keep my vote at semi support though. Would certainly be nice, but in order to compromise it should at least be optional.

Have you re-read the OP? It is optional.

A lot of people aren't reading the OP and saying that it would be better if it was optional.

Look at the first and last sentence.

It is optional.

I support this suggestion; a script should only be run when it is double clicked.
The problem with scratch 3.0 compared to previous versions of scratch is that in scratch 1.4 when you clicked a script, there would be a short delay before it ran to see if you were dragging the script or actually running. In scratch 3.0 it is either instant, or the delay is much shorter.

In 2.0 it waits about a half-second before actually running the script when you click, so clicking twice doesn't make any difference. That's probably why you thought it used to require 2 clicks.
Anyways, it doesn't matter how it was in the past; I support this suggestion because it would be optional so it can only make a positive impact.
