When a project gets featured, a star icon should be placed next to the title to show it has already been featured. If one of your projects has been featured, a star should be put next to your name on your profile page (but only your profile). I think it would be a nice touch!

This would probably just result in bragging. Of course, we can't stop people saying that they have been featured, but when a star is added it would become kind of obvious and shut other users down.

True, but it will only show on their profile PAGE and no where else. Plus, due to the mass amounts of views and likes, it's already pretty obvious when a project was featured anyways.

I just thought it would help the moderators who feature projects to prevent multiple from the same user being featured (to give other people an opportunity).

This to me almost sounds like some sort of rank, like the New Scratcher or Scratcher rank. Of course, it's not exactly the same — but I'd anticipate a lot of comments about “please feature my project so I can get a star”, which of course we can't do for everyone.

I appreciate your thoughtfulness. However, we already do have ways to tell when a user was front-paged. In addition, some users get featured more than once. After all, if getting featured once didn't make the user well-noticed, there's nothing wrong with featuring them again.
