If you want to create an animated profile picture using one of your animated Scratch projects, here's what you have to do:

1) Go into the project editor. Click the “File” tab in the upper left corner of the screen.
2) In the dropdown menu that appears, click “Record and Export Video”.
3) A window of options will appear. Select the ones you want, then click “Start” when you're ready.
4) A countdown will appear. When it reaches 0, a video of your project will start running. Hit the green flag to run your project.
5) When you're done recording your project, click the square button at the bottom left corner of the stage to stop the video.
6) Download the recording as an FLV file, and then convert the file to GIF format. You can find many websites that do it for free. I usually use this one: http://ezgif.com/video-to-gif
7) Save the GIF file and then upload it to Scratch in the same way that you would upload an image.

Aaaand…you're done! Hopefully, you now know how to make your own GIF using a Scratch project and set it as your profile pic
However, note that GIFs made in this way can only be up to 60 secs long, so if you want something more advanced, you'll need to use screen recording software like bandicam or something.

I believe you could also download the frames and use a GIF creator to stick them all together, iirc. Not sure how well that works anymore though?

It works perfectly fine. If it's frames and not using blocks to make it move

Scratch 3 no longer has a Record/Export Video button, however you can use another program such as OBS to record your screen, and then use that to capture your animated Scratch sequence that you can convert to a gif.
Also you've necroposted on this topic, meaning you've posted on an old and resolved topic. I don't blame you though - I did the same thing for my first post.

Wow, this topic is so old that @amylaser posted on it! I never knew she was a regular forums user at one point.

Closed to prevent future necro-discussion.
