The Aurae - A Scratch Platformer RPG Monster Collection game (like Slugterra but nicer)
Well, I was watching ______ play Shadow of Death, and I came up with an idea. It is…
…a platformer
… an RPG
… involves monster collection
I have a script and design, I just need the final piece of a gigantic puzzle: the code.
The story is as follows:
Intro:
A young boy/girl has their village destroyed. They are found by monks and raised until they are fourteen, and then they study fighting for a year. They leave with a basic skill in fighting and then, whilst in the library, stumble upon an old scroll.
The scroll proves that they are an Aurae - a fairy-human hybrid race capable of manipulating the aura around a living being. An Aurae can make someone feel happy… sad, dejected, lonely, angry, excited, frustrated, bored… They were wiped out because nobody trusted them.
Vowing to bring back the glory of the Aurae, our main character promptly takes a horse and cart and travels north to Vharn. On the way, (s)he is attacked by bandits, who take everything and leave our main character by the roadside.
Part I
The player chooses to try to find a ride or walk - in both scenarios, a goblin attacks the carriage (typical), and the player chooses to TALK, FLEE, or FIGHT. When the goblin is finally gone, the player then continues to Vharn.
Part II
In Vharn, the player can choose one of three inns. Once chosen, you can Upgrade your room, or move to a different inn. The cheap inn restores 80% health and saves game. The middle inn does the same, but occasionally grants a gift, and restores 100% health. The expensive inn gives you a random gift every morning and restores 100% health. This phase is a very “exploration-style” phase, designed to teach the mechanics of the game.
Part III
A party of goblins has been raiding a nearby town. One can have a Random Encounter (battling 3-6 goblins) or press on with tnhe main story. The tenth battle leads the player into the lair of a very old and weak dragon.
The player chooses to SLAY, IGNORE, or HELP the dragon. Helping unlocks a new pet and gives you gold and treasures, ignoring lets you come back later, and slaying increases all your levels and gives you gold and treasures.
Part IV
Having defeated the dragon, the player returns to Vharn. However, Vharn is in ruins, and the player is forced to either CAMP OUT or sleep in the nearby town. If the player chooses the latter, then an Adventure Quest Opportunity is unlocked - join up if you want to find out what it is.
However, if the player CAMPS OUT, they are attacked by shadow-wolves and carried off to the lair. If they sleep in the town, they will find their purse empty of Tokens (use these to sleep somewhere else temporarily) and have a quest forced on them: find the lair of the shadow-wolves and bring back the head of the alpha.
Part V
The wolf lair is nothing but fight-fight-rest-fight-fight the whole way. When the player finds the alpha, the alpha's spirit tells the player that he cannot be defeated because he is under the protection of the Shadow Lord. He shows the player a strange mark, and the player is defeated.
Upon recovering, the player receives an AMBER TEARDROP which summons fire when grafted onto certain armour. When the player returns to the lair, they will find that the alpha is terrified of the teardrop and should be able to defeat them (with some difficulties) and obtain the Wolf Chestplate.
Part VI
The hero returns home victorious, but has lost a lot of health. (You cannot defeat the alpha until you lose 80% health.) A kindly dryad finds the hero, and the hero befriends a strange creature known as a Nilpan. The player discovers that the Nilpan are daemons. A choice is offered: FORCE the contract, or ASK for a contract.
Part VII
The Nilpan, either way, amplify the player's strengths and close up their weaknesses. This is where the monster catching starts. As the player leaves the forest, they are presented with stronger and stronger Nilpan. Pokemon-like battles allow the player to cause a contract.
Part VIII
The player travels southwest to Edge, discovering hordes of goblins. This part is difficult simply because of the masses of goblins - a good player may find themselves swamped with goblins. The player discovers that, in the central tower of Ruin, there is an ancient relic binding all faeries to the earth. There are three of these; one was destroyed (the Star-tear), one rests inside all Aurae (the Sun-rain), and one is in the central tower of Ruin (the Moon-drop). If our protagonist dies (because he is the last living Aurae) and the moon-drop is destroyed, all faeries shall vanish from the face of the earth.
Part IX
The player battles to get to the central tower of Ruin. Inside, they restore their health (big boss fight!) and search for the Moonstone. But it is guarded by a fearsome sorcerer…
Part X
The sorcerer must be defeated to get to the Moonstone. (The player knows that the Moonstone will give them an ultimate power.) If one succeeds, then a CHOICE is offered: DESTROY the Moonstone… or CLAIM it.
~The End~
Gameplay mechanics:
Arrow keys to move. Z, X, C to attack (Z for special, X for normal, C for ranged)
Attacking - land combos to do more damage. Collect all arrows by touching dead bodies before they fade. Use SPECIAL to manipulate Aura and deal damage to everyone, draining their health. Limited use, but regenerative.
Moving - hold down to sprint.
On-screen keys available.
When a BATTLE starts, Platformer Mode is activated. Defeat all enemies to win. Defeated enemies stay dead for 30 seconds, then their bodies fade.
Collect monsters (not part of plot) to amplify everything - throw Darts instead of Arrows to catch. Monsters mainly upgrade Aura manipulation.

Okay, I have finally finished planning
HERE IS HOW IT WORKS:
1.) Complete task under your name
2.) Submit
3.) Wait for feedback
4.) Alter depending on feedback
5.) When ready, I'll piece it all together
8BitComposer -
I need the following soundtracks:
x1 background music per part, getting eerier and darker as it goes on. I want music to be a big part of this, similarly to Undertale. Check out Hopes and Dreams if you haven't heard it already.
x3 fight (grunt, swing, sword noise?) sounds
x1 generic footstep noise
x1 running noise
(If that's a lot, I'll break it down.)
ellijah9990 - and heine -
I need a platformer engine, with the following conditions:
Jump with UP, W, and move with AD and LEFT/RIGHT
Double jump/hold to jump higher
Press Z to dash forward (leave particle trail?)
Press X to attack (fists, then sword, then better sword)
Hold-and-release C to shoot an arrow
Everyone -
I need some artists. Maybe try ^ as well as looking for some people? Greatly appreciated.
