Pokémon Fangames/Fakémon Topic
Welcome to the Pokémon Fangames / Fakémon Topic!
A lot of Pokémon fans have created our own fake Pokémon (“Fakemon”), or even an entire fangame. This is a place for sharing your ideas, getting feedback, and discussing what other fans have created. Feel free to share as much or as little as you want.
You can post concepts for Fakemon, characters, places, mechanics, etc.; artwork for the aforementioned things; music; if you have a project, studio, topic, or something else about your fangame, feel free to link it here as long as you're following the Community Guidelines. You may post a little bit and then keep updating us on new information in new posts, too.
If you're writing a fanfic or making art or anything of a hypothetical fangame, feel free to share that too. It can just be one Fakémon or one trainer idea.
The rules here are the same as they are in the rest of the Scratch forums: stay respectful, stay on topic, and read the Community Guidelines.

I'll start with my example:
Pokémon Key and Lock:
A hypothetical (never going to be actually made) fangame made mostly for my own pleasure and to try my hand at video game storyboarding, ideas, and music. It takes place in a yet-to-be-named region that is very, very loosely based off of Peru. The mascot legendaries, placeholder names “Beeo” (a Bug/Psychic bee) and “Wolfo” (a Poison/Fighting wolf), ruled the region thousands of years ago.
Plot Summary:
Professor Cypress finds a lost Hafletch running rampant near Limelodge Town, searching for its Trainer. Busy with his research, he asks the player (Alma) to take a Starter Pokémon and help Hafletch find its home. Alma finds Hafletch's Trainer, Lev; they declare each other rivals and compete to see who can win all eight Gym Badges first. On their journey, they run into Team Corona, who seems to just be harrassing people who have their guard down until their admins try to recruit Lev. It turns out that they want to overthrow the government, re-install “Beeo” and “Wolfo” as the rulers, and act as the Legendary duo's cabinet.
The Starters:
Grass: Sporapsid, a fern therapsid. It evolves into Fermian (fern + Permian), a Grass/Ghost type that represents surviving the Permian extinction.
Fire: Not yet named, a lamb with flaming wool. Its fully evolved form is Fire/Steel and based off of steel wool, which is highly flammable.
Water: Not yet named, a platypus. Its fully evolved form is Water/Fighting and has characteristics of a submarine.
Special: Hafletch, a Dragon-type, your rival's starter. Its evolution chain is based off of a bow and arrows; their powerful legs launch them in a straight trajectory, they have tail feathers, and there are arrowheads on their heads. The final evolution has three Formes, which are Dragon/Fire, Dragon/Water, and Dragon/Grass. Your rival's evolves into the Forme with a type advantage against your starter.
Characters: There are a lot. Here's a summary:
Professor Tsukushi Cypress: A young researcher from Johto who accidentally garnered fame when he was injured fighting Hafletch. His partner Pokémon is a Scizor, and they can communicate with each other perfectly. Search up his first name on Bulbapedia for more information about his past.
Lev (if you choose the female player)/Alma (if you choose the male player): your rival. They respect you, but often lash out at you in anger. In the past, they were an awful bully, so now they act restrained and cold to be a “better person.”
The Gym Leaders, half of which have bad placeholder names: “Explosiveman” (Fire), Emory (Psychic), Arden (Bug), Corra (Poison), “Tringleman” (Dark), “Crelimaversy” (Fairy), Vanessa (Ghost), and Claudius (Fighting).
Team Corona: An organization that aims to overthrow the government and re-install Beeo and Wolfo as the rulers. There are fewer but stronger grunts than other villainous teams because they're more selective; they believe that only the strongest and smartest should be in the Sovereign Duo's cabinet. They try to recruit other strong trainers, like the player, the rival, and Professor Cypress. Their admins are Sagittarius and Andromeda, and their boss is Claudius, the last Gym Leader.

nice idea! the only thing I would really change are the legendaries, they are still good ideas, but they don't really fit the title of the game (most, if not all, of the legendries in past regions are in a game where the title fits their appearance and type) I'll start with my example:

So as you may already know from my post on the Pokemon topic, I'm making a hypothetical fan game like cheese-duck's. It's called Pokemon Past and Future and it's based off of Italy. The region is called Anima, meaning “soul” in Italian.
Starters
Grass: The grass starter is based off a wolf/lion and is named Wolfsprout. It evolves into Woleaf and then Wolflower. Wolflower is a Grass/Fairy type and Ashes hypothetical rival has one.
Fire: The fire type starter is based off a sheep and is called Lamblaze. I haven't made any evolutions yet, but it's fully evolved form is a Fire/Dark type.
Water: The water type starter is based off a platypus and is called Ornizu, it's root words being ornitorrinco, meaning platypus in spainish, and Mizu, meaning water. I haven't made any evolutions yet but it's fully evolved form is a Water/Poison.
Gym Leaders
Ground: The ground type Gym Leader is named Akari, and so far her pokemon are, Pricklepine, a pokemon based off a hedgehog, Sandslash and an unamed snake.
Flying: The flying type Gym Leader is named Isabelle, and she has Doudrio, Skarmory and Frobird, a Flying/Ice type fakemon.
Psychic/Dark: The psychic/dark Gym Leaders are named Sakura and Kota. Sakura has Espeon and Starus, my Staryu evolution. Kota has Umbreon and Elewolf, my pika-clone. They are the two Gym Leaders from my city I made called Eclipse City. They are also married.
I'm thinking about making something cool out of this, like I could make a forum were I like narrate the story and you guys could read it. Should I do it?

I’m currently making my own region called Koena. It’s based off of California (even though I’ve never been there). I’ve already made a lot of Pokémon, but for now, I’m gonna talk about 2 evolutions I made: Carnivern, who evolves from Carnivine when traded with a dragon scale and is Grass/Dragon (WHICH I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED), and Loon’e, who evolves from Farfetch’d at level 30 and is Steel/Flying.
More will come soon. Bye!

Thanks! The idea was that the bee would have a key as its stinger, and the wolf's teeth would resemble a lock. I guess I should've thought it through more before choosing those animals, but the other thing I liked about them is that Team Corona wants to impose a certain social structure on the region, and bees and wolves are known for their interesting social structures??nice idea! the only thing I would really change are the legendaries, they are still good ideas, but they don't really fit the title of the game (most, if not all, of the legendries in past regions are in a game where the title fits their appearance and type) snip

Hahaha @cactus_bob is making a fangame in which there's a GL named Isabel. She's a Ground-type specialist, though. (snip)
Flying: The flying type Gym Leader is named Isabelle, and she has Doudrio, Skarmory and Frobird, a Flying/Ice type fakemon.

So @MaximunPokeMaster's advice led me to think a bit about the Legendary duo's types, and how they'd match the games.
“Beeo” is a Bug-type because you kind of can't have a bee Pokémon without making it Bug-type. But why is it Psychic, other than “I wanted a Bug/Psychic type?” And why is “Wolfo” Poison/Fighting of all things (besides “I wanted a Poison-type Legendary”)? Also there's the problem of Psychic being 4x effective against Poison/Fighting, great.
“Key and Lock” implies Steel-type, so I could change them to Bug/Steel and something/Steel. But see, changing the types would mean I have to change the types of some other Pokémon (and Gym Leaders) which have a close relation to the Legendaries.
I thought that since Key represents freedom and Lock represents control, Beeo's Psychic powers grow when it feels unrestrained and absolutely free, and Wolfo's better at fighting when it maintains absolute focus. That could fit with other types, but there's the whole idea of being able to think clearer when you feel free, and martial arts involving focus.
So how about Poison? I haven't thought of anything for that. Can you guys possibly think of an excuse for Wolfo to be Poison-type, or should I change it? Should I change them to Bug/Steel and Fighting/Steel? (In that case, I would need to change the types of the Pseudo-Legendary, a certain fox Pokémon, and Corra.)

@cheeseduck, I think you should make Wolfo a Dark-Steel type, like @TwistedCyclone2006 said, with the Dark type maybe representing how locks keep secrets hidden, like how Dark types could be secretive. Maybe change Beeo's type to Bug-Fairy.So @MaximunPokeMaster's advice led me to think a bit about the Legendary duo's types, and how they'd match the games.

In any other case, I'd take it and change their types, but that would mean I have to change other things' types, too, as they're really tied in with the Legendaries (specifically the Pseudo-Legendary, two Gym Leaders, and a certain radioactive fox Pokémon). It's a kind of sticky unfortunate situation.

I think it’s time I reveal the starters:
Grass - Bandinuki: A mischievous tanooki that has a habit of stealing things. It’s final stage is a Grass/Fighting type.
Fire - Vipyro: A snake that has skin resembling volcanic rock. Final stage is Fire/Rock.
Water - Octot: An octopus that can shoot ink at very fast speeds. Final stage is Water/Electric.

That's nifty! I've heard that the water starters are supposed to represent weapons or warriors, so the idea of shooting ink as a weapon is really cool.
Only problem with the types is that Fighting is super effective against Rock, but I think that's OK since the types of precious fully-evolved starters have been a bit unbalanced (ex. Infernape's Fighting and Torterra's Ground are both 2x effective against Empoleon's Steel).

Yep! I’m currently working on a Pokédex, and two of my favorites are Gushpy and Porpout, who are both Water/Ground. They are based off of geysers, and Gushpy evolves into Porpout after leveling up knowing Scald, which it can either learn at level 20 or learn from a TM. Other than the geyser part of them, Gushpy is based off of a guppy, and Porpout is based off of the finless porpoise, which is one of my favorite animals in real life. Their water is used for hot springs, too.Cool ideas! Do you have any other pokemon you've made? I think it’s time I reveal the starters:

Can I just make up Pokémon in this topic?
I've had this one in my mind for the longest time, since I was young: Magnestorm. It's an alternate evolution from Magneton, and…is simply just three Magneton stuck together, so that they all form a ring shape.
I guess it's Electric/Steel type. I haven't given much thought to this Pokémon other than the name and what it looks like.
Magneton has been my favorite Pokémon for over 10 years and I don't really know why.

But I said I'll share some more info including art…. so hey guys, I made an art thread on the Smogon forums. If you wanna check it out, there's not much, but there's concept art of Professor Cypress. It's called “electriczorua's chuffin low-budget art and maybe music” but I won't link it because Smogon's (technically) 13+.
