scratch cat boy or girl?
This belongs in the questions about scratch forum, it's not related to project ideas—I'll ask for it to be moved.
As for the question itself, I've never heard an official answer. I'm not sure the scratch team ever even decided a gender, but maybe you could ask a scratch team member if they don't view this topic (but they might see it when moving it, so maybe they'll answer?)

According to this Wiki article, “According to Scratch Team member Ceebee, the Scratch Cat is nonbinary, meaning that the cat does not identify as strictly male or female in terms of gender.”

scratch cat boy or girl?
From the wiki:
Personally I find it very hard imagining Scratch Cat as a girl. If he (she, for the purposes of this argument) was, then I can assure you someone would ask for Scratch kittens. THEN it would start getting weird.
Idea I had while writing this: What if we called new Scratchers Scratch Kittens? It would never work, would it
According to Scratch Team member Ceebee, the Scratch Cat is nonbinary, meaning that the cat does not identify as strictly male or female in terms of gender. However, many users, even some Scratch Team members, use male pronouns for Scratch Cat, especially he/him.

Scratch Cat does not have an official gender, but I think of the Sprite as a boy.

I haven't really thought of this. But now that I did, I was thinking: is Scratch Cat a mutant? (S)he can talk, and stands on 2 hind legs always, and runs like a human. Maybe Scratch Cat is some lab experiment that went horribly wrong, and now there is a intellegent, English-speaking humanoid-cat that may be either both genders or neither, and that multiplies at the press of a button.
