Ok, does this work for you? If not I can rewrite it. I know it's got a bit of violence in it, but it's pretty hard to get around that when describing a war

There are no flowers here.
The whistle of shells is all we hear,
The rattle of bullets, the gun’s dull sheen,
Destroying everything green.

There are no trees around.
The battle had torn up the ground,
Leaving deep trenches as scars.
The only fruits are those in jars.

The ground around us is all churned,
All vegetation has been burned.
Everything is bleak and gray,
Like an eternal night with no day.

In a place with no nature of any kind,
A place where death is easy to find,
Here we take up the knives,
Here we lay down our lives.

There’s just one favor that we crave,
Plant some flowers on our grave.
