They got hacked again, they uploaded more adult content and now the CN UK site has been taken down.

Also RegularCapital say they might start blogging again once they get a job and new house, etc.

All CN sites are down at this point apart from a select few. CN UK is still down.

Now this is VERY interesting. The CN UK site now re-directs to the Boomerang UK site. That may not sound all that interesting, but they've added a special “cartoon network” section to the Boomerang UK site, which holds Cartoon Network games (it just looks like a normal page of the boom UK site though, except it has a Dimensional-themed banner and a list of CN games to play). I'm assuming this is a temporary solution until everything is sorted out, but interesting how they would take this approach of just shoving everything onto the site of a sister channel instead of just taking down the videos section of the CN UK, especially considering CN is intended for older audiences than Boomerang these days (sadly, as Boomerang used to target the same older audience CN did).

It's kinda weird seeing “Cartoon Network” as the name of the browser tab, with the Boomerang favicon next to it lol

Maybe they had access to the entire site and could change any of the content on any part of the CN site, but they decided to just throw their attacks at the videos section

Also, a couple of days ago, someone managed to hack (or guessed a password of an admin, most likely) into the websites for european CN feeds (including CN UK) and latin american CN feeds and started posting random memes, YouTube Poops, and also very inappropriate content not appropriate for Scratch (I don't know exactly what though).

EDIT: Some websites are still affected (I think CN UK is one of them). Apparently ALL sites were vulnerable, including the Asian and North American ones, although no damage was apparently done. Supposedly, the guy who did it bragged about it on twitter, and RegularCapital, a guy who posts CN promos and has a news website about CN apparently knows who it is. I don't know if it was a rogue employee who wanted to be sacked or if it was just some random person, all the memes were supposedly Brazilian ones though so perhaps someone from the LA team.

EDIT 2: Apparently it was a well-known Brazillian hacker who has something to do with the CN mini-series, Villainous. (?)
did that actually happen? like actually? weird.

Perhaps - but I remember hearing it was a security flaw with the video hosting servers.

Did you know? While other european Boomerang channels kept the 2004 rebrand until the 2012 rebrand, the UK, Ireland, and Malta had another rebrand in 2008, before the 2012 rebrand? It actually has an interesting history. They wanted to transform Boomerang UK into a CNReal channel, and if it was successful, they would bring it all over Europe. To do this, they added CNReal content to the channel's daytime schedule, and introduced a new branding for some reason (I don't know why, the branding wasn't related to the USA's CNReal block at that time, I think they did it to make it more like CN UK at that time, as it is very similar to the Arrow Era.). This was proven very unsuccessful with viewers, so they reverted the new schedule, decided not to shut down Boomerang and replace it with CNReal, and never bought any changes to other European channels. But, they kept the branding, and that's probably a good thing, as it fits Boomerang's “classic cartoons & cartoons based on classic characters” schedule back then, so they made new idents using the 2008 rebrand, but with classic cartoons, which remind me of CN USA's dimensional “show clip” idents. Not many people remember this era of Boomerang UK, and it is hard to find these idents on the internet, as not many people in the UK at that time were interested in preserving TV, or even recording any programmes at all (vhs was slowly dying, and DVRs that could record wouldn't really come into the scene until around 2012/2013, unless you had Sky, but even then, not many people cared to record stuff, and Virgin Media also had a bigger marketshare at that time I believe.). Click here to see some continuity during this time, recorded in December 2010. Boomerang USA would keep the original 2000 launch rebrand until 2015, and they also still haven't gotten the 2018 rebrand yet.

CN UK site still redirects to boomerang. Sounds like it's gonna be a while until it comes back up.

When my local news station freezes up, there's an awkward pause, or a delayed transition I get worried and think something horribly wrong has happened.

In a Nutshell
News station: Has a technical error.
Me: Is this the end?

Yes, I am very irrational.

So basically…
News station: The winner of the looooooo-
You: Uh oh!
News station: -ith, who has chosen a one-time payment of…

Or…

Newsperson: *forgets his line*
You: AAAAAAAAAAAH!

To be honest if something like that happens, I would think that they would be ready to announce important news - so you're not irrational. BBC News in the UK does a similar thing when important news is coming (for example, they did it when the Paris attacks happened)

Apparently, Nickelodeon Arabia had this closedown animation from 2008. I don't know for sure what this was used for, but I'm guessing by the context of the animation it would air at night, probably used as a signal to let the children know when to go to sleep.

It shows Spongebob sleeping in a bed with relaxed music.

Here it is

I would imagine that Nickelodeon Arabia wasn't 24/7 at that time (as was most non-USA nickelodeon channels, Nick UK wouldn't get 24/7 until the beginning of this year!) on most providers, and that once it closed down, a block would start up (maybe comedy central, or teleshopping). But for the few providers that received a 24/7 signal, they probably made the filler bumper that animation, and would play the filler bumper at hours usually taken up by another block. (that would also mean if they didn't have enough ads in an ad-break, that would probably air, which would confuse viewers). Atleast, that's what I think - it wouldn't make sense to broadcast a 24/7 signal, if you're not going to use all of it, or use late-night hours for a block.

What a strange animation though. It looks as if it was originally made for Nick Jr and they couldn't be bothered to make a new one for Nickelodeon so they just took the one from Nick Jr.

The UK just used generic filler at that time which would be played for a couple of minutes to fill in the time before Teleshopping came on: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANxIAnOC1DY For the final few years before they switched to 24/7, they just aired a black screen before Teleshopping.

what I find strange is that the room looks NOTHING like Spongebob's actual room, and that Spongebob sleeps in his normal attire instead of in his pajamas like in the show.

Hooray I found another one.

This time it's from Nick Jr. France, from 2011.

In this one, it shows Dora sleeping instead of Spongebob.

On the topic of filler bumpers;

This isn't a closedown or night loop since CN UK has been 24/7 since 1996, but simply, a filler bumper used to fill in late night ad breaks when no more promos or ads were in the queue to air, this was aired during the Check it 3.0 era: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekLm3VsyNzw (starts at 0:04, ends at 0:23)

Cartoon Network UK still uses a filler bumper, and has been updated to match Check it 4.5, but airs much more rarely due to CN UK having more promos in it's filler promo queue.
