PROBLEMS WITH SCRATCH 3.0!!! IMPORTANT ARGUMENT!! PLEASE LOOK!!!!

Hey I would just like to say that I am 13, so not much older than the average age of Scratch users. I loved 2.0 and grew up with it, so personally grew attached, but even though lots of people have been saying that 3.0 is easier for younger users, it's not much different. I HATE the way that that the code goes on the left now because I am very used to looking left for the screen. I really hope that Scratch releases 2.0 as a side project so older users who were more used to/prefer the layout and look of 2.0 can use that instead. Scratch is a really handy way of doing stuff because its really easy to move on to programs such as Python, but it is very quick and simple. Scratch team, I have been using Scratch 2.0 since I was 6 years old and I have made many great creations. Don't stop me now by pulling this COWPOO update on us which restricts our freedom and doesn't include everyone.

I know this has been stated multiple times, but Scratch 1.0 had the stage on the right as well, and personally I really like it
I grew up with 2.0 and I liked it, but there's no use in complaining about it. It's quite nice, and more responsive, and runs better, crashes less, and many more, so it's honestly a much needed update.

Though I would like the dark theme of 1.0 xD

No, Scratch is not meant to be for the kids it is now targeted towards. ScratchJr was.

Have any of you tried ScratchJr? It has no reporters. That means no if statements, no variables, and no operators. The best thing it has is a limited number of color coded “mailboxes” (broadcasts). ScratchJr is better for preschoolers than elementary schoolers. I believe I've said this before, but I would much rather put up with a younger Scratch than force younger kids to use ScratchJr rather than the real Scratch.

the new look of scratch is modern but it gets in the way when you get used to the old look, the old look is better, more robust, simpler, and I think if a person gets into scratch now, it will not feel legal to program because of the appearance, I saw the update and already downloaded the version of scratch 2.0 because the new version is horrible.

So I just saw this project https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/266213901/ and it was “What Famous Scratchers Think About Scratch 3.0” I've noticed that MANY programmers do not like the new editor, and here is why. Scratch is going for much younger audiences than they were before I feel like. The blocks are bigger, there is now a “Wacky” section in the sound library, and all in all its easier to use for younger kids. However, there are many older and more serious scratchers out there such as me, griffpatch, and many others. I mean, like why doesn't scratch make a “pro/for older ages” editor, then another version more for kids and more like the new scratch 3.0. I thought that's what Scratch Jr was, a editor that is for younger age groups. If you want to support me in this argument, please post forums and do whatever you can to convince the scratch team. Thanks so much!!!!
1. This is a rant topic.
2. What's wrong with bigger blocks?
3. Simple. Ignore the “Wacky” section.
4. I am a kid.
5. Scratch is a kid-friend website, so the Scratch Team coudln't make the site look like it was meant for a 32-year old.
6. The “Wacky” section does serve a purpose.

I have this problem too, but I find that simply zooming out the script blocks once is enough to fix the problem. Also, what's the problem with the sound library? It's just more sounds/easier to find sounds…

3.0 still needs a lot of work, but I actually really like the design. Granted, I do have it modified a bit so it has a dark theme. I'm fine with the bigger blocks, and I like the rounded UI.

Almost no chance that that's going to happen. It's already rejected, and imagine if you made a project that took 1 month, and had five thousand comments saying “UNSHARE THIS ITS SO CRAPPY” or “THIS IS SO BAD”. One project isn't really going to change a major update. It may change if 30,000 users hated it, but 5 or so, not that much.

Since when did 3.0 restrict freedom?
Also, the post before your post was over 2 months ago.

As everybody says, you don't have to be advanced to have another SCRATCH. The block change is very cool and a good design, in my opinion. Griffpatch is an advanced coder, and an adult. But does he complain about having a “more advanced SCRATCH?” No, he doesn't. Everybody in this forum but you @YaBoySam are correct, but you are making SCRATCH look like it's a 3 year old app.

What I don't understand is how looks make it soooooo bad.
its just my opinion. Other scratchers agree with me. did you see the project interviewing famous scratchers?
There may be about 10 famous scratchers, but there are millions more. Because famous scratchers hate it does not mean EVERYONE hates it. Yes, the majority of users are 11-13, but the site was meant for smaller kids. If you really think that Scratch looks too babyish, move on to Snap or more complicated programming languages. It dosen't mean we have to split the community or make the site less suitable for 6-year olds just so the 11-year olds can get their way. Scratch was meant for all ages, yes again, but we do not have to make the younger kids be less comfortable or even leave.

Plus, dividing the community is already a rejected suggestion! If you think the website is childish and you no longer enjoy it, then what are you still doing here? Why haven't you moved on yet?

A comment saying you will get used to it and “don't focus on the looks” is not hate. When you get an opinion that you disagree on, it does not mean it is always hate.
