I'm studying media and I genuinely have no clue what they were trying to go for with those ads. Like, I can see bits such as how they hopped on the “show character levelling up” trend with mobile games and the inclusion of some concepts that might appeal to people but everything else about them has me completely stumped. They do barely anything to advertise the game, let alone persuade people to download it. It just hurts my brain to think about it.

I'm studying media and I genuinely have no clue what they were trying to go for with those ads. Like, I can see bits such as how they hopped on the “show character levelling up” trend with mobile games and the inclusion of some concepts that might appeal to people but everything else about them has me completely stumped. They do barely anything to advertise the game, let alone persuade people to download it. It just hurts my brain to think about it.Well now that it's a meme, the game's ads are getting a lot more exposure from the memes, which means that some people may download it for the epic funny where they wouldn't had if the mafia city ads weren't so memeable

Fair point, but marketing your game on memeable ads is an unreliable tactic, plus if it does work the new found attention wont last long and will completely tank your ability to market and make a profit after your minute of fame runs out, which for a mobile game like mafia city (that relies on micro-transactions presumably) would be terrible for business.I'm studying media and I genuinely have no clue what they were trying to go for with those ads. Mafia City memes would've been better if it was like a meme to accompany with other memes (like To Be Continued) where someone does something very funny to another person (like making them trip or pieing them) and then the guy from the ads comes out and says “That's How Mafia Works”.
