I just saw a news article and I needed to make discussion of it.

I'm worried that the world may fall into World War 3 anytime soon. I need to make sure that either everything will be okay, or it won't.

Apparently now the USA is putting death rays on their planes. I thought this was good, since now it's useless trying to fight them with nukes now that they can blow them up, but then I read this.

that article you've linked is from a british tabloid newspaper, meaning it's a very unreliable and dodgy source. looking at their history they seem to use the term “world war 3” frequently for any time something bad happens for the purpose of shock value. news media is a business and creating paranoia in the readers keeps them reading. basically you've been duped and while world war 3 IS a possibility in our world, it's nowhere near as likely as this source would have you believe.

World War 3 is likely not something that's going to happen. The closest the world has gotten to destroying itself was back in the Cold War, which was a few decades ago. We're past that now.

In fact, (despite being British myself) I don't even think I can trust any of our newspapers except the BBC and they are legally required to stay as politically neutral and unbiased as possible.

Yeah, I know that the tweet's meaning in time means nothing.

But what it says sounds like if the death ray fires once, everything on Earth dies. Did he mean something else?
