I want to keep up the series of snake games by making a game like the classic Nokia snake game, but with a twist, any good ideas for the “twist”.

Well, it depends how much more complicated you'd like to make it. Maybe make different color consumables, where some make the snake longer, some make it shorter, and some need to be avoided for x-amount of time or you lose. Best of luck!
