Is it possible to import an image into a sprite?
Hey guys,
I'm currently experimenting with a clicker, when this question popped up. Is it possible to import an image into a sprite? By this, I mean I don't want to import a new sprite, but what I want to do is import an image into a sprite, a sprite that has stuff already put in. Essentially, I need to import an image into a sprite that already exists.
Sorry if that was confusing.
I know this was possible in 2.0, but since 3.0 was released, I haven't really experienced with the new format. I know I can import an image as a seperate sprite, but is the option that I want still available?
Thanks,
~21chrismali

I have experienced this issue as well, and my best advice is to import the image in as a separate costume and then copy the image, switch into the costume that you want to import the image into, and paste it there, resizing it as needed. If you are trying to import an image into a sprite, than hover over the symbol of a blue circle with the white silhouette of a cat with a + sign, and some options should appear. The options are represented by symbols, and to upload you must click on the upload symbol, which looks like an arrow pointing upwards from a bracket that has been laid down, it should say ‘Upload Costume’ when you hover over the upload symbol.

I hope that this helps, I am not too great with advice, best of luck!

Thank you! I really appreciate the advice. Although, I have just discovered a perfect alternative that fits with the clicker I'm making. So thanks again, but I think I've got it.
Sorry to waste your time,

Oh, I don't consider it as a waste of time, so don't worry about it!

Hi 11PromanGG, I see you're new to scratch. Welcome.
I hope this helps.
In the future, even if you find an old topic that seems like what you need help with, it's better to create a new topic of your own (the blue “New Topic” button in the upper right corner, when you're looking at the topic list).

- Open the Costumes tab of the editor (between Code and Sounds).
- Hover your mouse over the circular button below any costumes already listed on the left.
- There are 4 options. The top one is “Upload Costume”
- Click “Upload Costume” and it will open a dialog box where you can select many image types (.png, .svg, .bmp, .jpg, .gif, …)
- I think you can select more than one image at a time with this dialog.
- Sometimes you may find an image of an accepted type that just won't load.
- Animated .gif files import as a costume for each frame. Beware, there can be MANY frames in some animated .gif files.
I hope this helps.
