Classrooms: The New Way for Teachers, Parents, and Kids to Access Students' Work
With many schools using Scratch, there are teachers, parents, and kids who all want to see the student's projects. When they upload them online, it is often difficult to search for every user and it can be easy to sometimes forget about someone or hard to find someone. I think it's a great idea to have “groups” called classrooms on your profile or my stuff page, in which you can add as many users as you want to classrooms. This way, teachers can make a classroom, put all their student's in it, add they'll all be right there instead of having to wander around the website for them and try to remember who is who. This way, students, parents, and anyone can go to the teacher's profile. Look at the classroom, and find all the student's right there. Also, there can be a drop down menu by each student with his/her three most recent projects. Other websites do these types of groups too, some art ones with classroom artwork, like Artsonia, and more.

This is a good idea, and if it gets thought through well, it might even be implemented.

I got quite a lot of comments on the Scratch Helping Team studio with teachers trying to manage their students' work.

Thanks for bringing this up!
We've been thinking about something like this for a while. Now that thing are getting more settled after the release of 2.0, we're starting to think about implementing teacher accounts again.
There are still lots of details to think through, but the current plan is to allow teachers to create teacher accounts which can then in turn create student accounts, and thereby get notified about new projects, comments, and that sort of thing.
Once we dive in, it's likely we'll post initial design info on ScratchEd - so if you haven't signed up there yet, that'd be a good idea.

Support, but they should be called ‘groups’ for a multi-purpose use.

This is an excellent idea! I really hope you are able to implement something like this. We use Scratch in Middle Schools to spark interest in Computer Science, but it is hard to offer a strategic tool like Scratch if we cannot ensure student's work will be available for review.
Please please please - give us the ability to create accounts and passwords that cannot be changed by the students.
Thank you!
