How YOU Can Make A Profit From Your Scratch Games (3 Steps)

No matter what anyone says, Scratch isnt an easy thing to create a video game with. People work hard on there scratch games, but the thing is, they get nothing in return. This can be a very big setback on why someone would want to use scratch. So today I am going to teach you a method that can get you REAL LIFE MONEY for your hard work. So lets get into it.

What You Need:

1.HTML/CSS Skills
2.A Good Scratch Game
3.A Bank
4.Over 18 or a consenting parent
5.A Google Account

Itll all make sense soon enough as to why you need all of this.

Step One:

You will need to code a custom website with HTML and CSS. This website can be as empty, or as flashy of how you choose, or maybe you can use a website template. Either way, when you have your website coded you will need to upload it to a webhost for it to be on the internet. I recommend 000webhost, since they are free and are powerful enough to handle this process. There are many youtube videos on getting these things set up. You dont have to be a web design pro. Basically what you need to do is: Create a website and upload it to the web.

Step Two:

Next you will embed your scratch project and put it on your webhost. There is a wiki article that will show you how to do this. If you have done it properly, your scratch game should now be playable on your website. You do not even need to be on scratch to play it now. You are halfway there to getting your money!

Step Three:

You will now monetize your website with google adsense. For this part you will need an adult. You need to create a google adsense account, connect your bank and place ads onto your website.

When you get that working and ads are on your website, you have finished everything up. Now advertise this website to your fellow creators, you will start receiving money for every play you get on this website. You can even go a step further and hide your scratch game from other so that its only playable from the website. It'll be slow at first (like most things). But if your game becomes very popular, you will start making quite a decent sum of money. The more view and plays on the website, the more money (like a youtube vid).

Cya!

Profit still comes in your bank even if people use adblocker (which almost everyone does)

actually, adblockers block every connection to ad networks. So the ad networks literally don't get to record that one visited the page and viewed ads because the request to do the recording is blocked. It's like you took your website and removed all the ads completely.

I guess apparently you have more real world experience than I would. I've owned many sites over the years, some with many ads, and I am telling you, you still get the profit.

No? There's no way that can happen. If there is no connection to the Ad server, there's no way for that server to know there was a connection to your site in the first place, meaning that you won't get paid for a visit they don't know about.

Yep. So any profit you get from that site is from people not using adblockers.

I would also recommend using Brave Rewards, some people use Brave for adblocking, and they also have the ability to tip your website. Also, 000webhost is bad and unsafe, GitHub Pages is better.

Shameless referral link for Brave

I agree. 000webhost also had a data breach in the past.

I would not even use 000webhost on anything serious in the first place. That isnt what it was meant for, its meant for people to be educated with.

If you are looking for backend I would not do 000webhost or Github (I dont think they support PHP). There was Codeanywhere but they recently went pay only, so I am not too sure of any alternatives.

Not necessarily, my adblocker (AdNauseum) doesn't block every connection.

You might want to consider getting a better AdBlocker then. I use Brave Browser's built in Adblock and it blocks everything I need. My school performs HTTPS MITM to be an adblock.
They change the MIME type of blocked content to HTML and make the content simple “Advert Blocked”.

Yeah. . Looking at that adblocker, I don't think it's that good. Part of the reason for using an adblocker is the privacy benefit of not even loading the ad networks. Intentionally loading them all creates some privacy problems and can be considered defrauding the ad networks, as you are not actually seeing the ads yet still “clicking” them.

OP: your solution to profiting from Scratch will certainly work, but make sure you use reputable hosting, and keep in mind that not 100% of your traffic will get you profit.

I would not recommend Brave, as it has been involved in some shady scams in the past. Just use a normal adblocker like uBlock Origin. Don't be fooled by “ethical ads” or “whitelisted ads” - just block them all.

Also 000webhost had their entire password database compromised in the past - I agree that you should not use them. GitHub pages on the other hand is very limited and only useful for static websites.

If you really want to get into having a full web presence I'd recommend actually setting yourself up with a VPS that can host whatever services you want (or, a tiny VPS running on free trial credits projected to last a year, followed by an alternative platform with more free trial credits for 10 additional months that hosts a tunnel to a physical server you own*, or colocate a physical server somewhere**)

To add, the GitHub Education pack includes $50 of DigitalOcean credits which gives you 10 months of free hosting on their lowest tier.

You could even host on Github Pages and have a domain name for it.
