…So, Tetris 99. THAT sure came out of left field.

How to play: The main gameplay is basically identical to your standard game of Tetris: blocks fall from the top of the screen one at a time, and you need to navigate them to clear any holes in your tower. Completely filling a line will cause that line to disappear.
However, the main difference in this version is boasted right in the title: you have 98 other players to take out, as they attempt to do the same to you.
Similar to other versus modes in Tetris titles, the more lines you clear, the more “garbage lines” will appear from the bottom of your opponent's board. Obviously, your enemies can—and will—do the same to you. Luckily, all you need to do is fill in a single tile to cause the entire line to disappear.
Original to Tetris 99, though, is the Badge mechanic. Each time a player is KO'd from garbage you sent, you earn a badge piece. Each badge increases your garbage output by 25%, with a full four badges doubling your garbage rate. (If it's not a whole number, it rounds down.) The first badge requires two KOs to get, the second takes 4 additional KOs, the third requires 6, while the fourth and final needs 8.

Anyway, does anybody have any gameplay tips? Personally, I'm still completely lost on how the whole garbage system works compared to how it functions in Puyo Puyo Tetris (the only multiplayer version of Tetris I've played).

Those 4 were all jokes. But now that I think about it, Pac-Man 99 WOULD be a good idea.

I love Tetris and this is a legit incentive for Nintendo Switch online.

Pac-Man Battle Royale does actually exist, but it only has local four-player support and doesn't seem to have had a wide release outside of arcades. I reckon Namco would benefit from resurrecting it and giving it a modern 1 v. 100 twist.
