I don’t think this is fair. People are allowed to tell other people what to do with their work, to a certain extent of course, but still… We should be allowed to decide whether other people can use our work, it is ours after all, not Scratch’s.

There should be a rule that you have to ask another Scratcher to use their work, even if you give credit, unless it is a remix.

EDIT: I am not saying this against remixes, just that it seems unfair that “you can sell stuff as long as it’s not real money, but anyone can use it even without paying as long as they credit you”. That’s basically saying, “This shop can sell stuff, but people are allowed to steal from it as long as they say it was from that shop”. Do you get me?
I agree that it's unfair that anyone can do anything with your work, and that Scratch acts as if they own it, but that suggestion has unfortunately been rejected already.

As for the edit, you can set guidelines in your shop. For example:

If you decide to use something you got from our shop, then you MUST give credit to us.

If you worked incredibly hard on something and don't want to have to deal with theft and stuff, just put a watermark on it.
Yeah that’s about the only thing you can do Or, as people said below, share once payment is complete, but then once it’s shared other people can use it without permission.

It could be done, but it’s still a risk.

Mining is something exclusively cryptocurrency, so I'd say no to that.

I don't get it.
I've never done such thing but I never knew about this. So I agree with this forum, that these bad things should be stopped.
No one should do bad things but they can control what they think or do. I think more clearly and try to stop myself from doing bad things. But sometimes we get tempted. Protect yourself from all bad things, and choose good.
when green flag clicked
ask [Do you wish to try good things?] and wait
if <[(answer)] = [Yes]> then
add (username) to [Good Team v]
say [Thanks for joining the good team!] for (2) secs

else
add (username) to [Bad Team v]
say [I hope you know what you're doing...] for (2) secs
end

*coughs* This post on the forum never said that the currencies were bad and that they should be stopped, maybe you should read it more thoroughly.

Hi! I am running a scratchcoin system that is only for congratulating people for their work(like as a “thank you for making this amazing project”).
Just to clarify, is this against this rule?

Mattcoin was controversial because of mining, so I might check that twice before anything.

Be patient. Kay, I've looked at your project, now ask me if you want me to tell you whether it's okay or not.

Dunno, honestly, but if there's no mining and you don't have to go to another website to use the currency, then okay

Hi!

We wanted to make a post today to help provide some guidelines and clarify our policies around the use of points or virtual currencies to buy and sell sprites, art, or other things on Scratch. It’s great that people are using these to make new and creative projects for Scratch, but there are a few trends we see happening that could cause problems.

Some specific things we want to address are:
  1. Participation in these point systems must be completely optional. You can create a studio with rules that you would like people to follow, but all of Scratch’s Community Guidelines still apply. For example, all projects on Scratch are remixable. If someone doesn’t give you ‘points’ for something, they can still remix, re-color, and share parts of those projects on Scratch as long as they follow the Community Guidelines.
  2. It is not okay to say mean things, demand that Scratchers ‘pay’ if they have remixed or used something from your projects, or encourage others to post mean comments to someone because they didn’t participate in the point system.
  3. Many of the projects being created require people to agree to some set of rules they must follow. Your project can include a list of rules, but it shouldn’t insist people do anything that doesn’t line up with our Community Guidelines.
  4. Using something that feels like a real currency, such as creating a new crypto-currency for these studios, is not allowed on Scratch. Creating your own pretend point system that you keep track of in projects, comments, or studios is fine, but you should avoid doing anything that feels more like real money than this. Scratch isn’t meant for advertising or buying and selling things with real-world money.

If you have any questions or concerns about these rules, we encourage you to contact us about this.

Scratch on!
Well, I just don't see the need for a point system on scratch. There are other websites dedicated for things similar to this. One thing that needs to be considered is the audience. Mostly young children are going to be on scratch (sadly I'm not a young child and use this as a game platform for my ideas) and implementing a point system might cause some people to try to convince the young children to use their money to buy their stuff. I really think that a point system needs to be not included for Scratch. It is (no pun intended) pointless and useless for what is being achieved on Scratch.

Why can't we try to sell stuff for real currency? What if someone remixes but changes nothing at all?

It's not bad. Mall simulators are allowed on Scratch, as long as rules made by the sellers meet the Community Guidelines and it does not become a crypto-currency involving an account on a site outside of Scratch (like MTC)
