(It's kinda hard to explain, but I'll try my best…)
So I have the idea that there should be Notice system. So this would work similarly to messages, but it will be only for notices. Now by notices I don't mean notices from the Scratch Team saying that you broke a guideline, or something like that.
An example of what I mean is before 3.0 released, there was a featured project mentioning that all of your backpack's contents will be removed. If this was a thing, there would have been a notice in Notices that your backpack will be gone.

So as I said, it would work similarly to messages, and it could be an icon right next to the messages icon. There could be a little red “!” when there is an important notice.

This will be a much easier way to get news* quickly to all Scratchers!

*EDIT: When I said “News” I thought that it might make more sense to call it that rather than “Notices”.

I think “Scratch News” on the front page covers that pretty nicely already. The only thing it doesn't have is a notification system — which would be nice to include.

The only thing with the “Scratch News” is that people (such as myself) may no really look at it too much… So I think ANY type of notification system would do.

Support! This would help with people who don't really look at the news

Support, this would help a lot and would be a lot more noticeable to some users. I remember when 3.0 came out, a lot of people were asking why their backpacks cleared. Hopefully this may cause stuff like this to happen less often.

Yeah I don't really read the Scratch News, I hardly ever go onto the front page even

Support, would be very useful! Biggest way I get the news about Scratch is on the forums and sometimes it's a little skewed…

I like the idea, but I don't think that it would need a separate icon/page. Instead, when the Scratch Team sends out a notice, it could go to everyone's message page, and there could be something showing that there is a notice. Then, when someone saw the notice, they could click on it to get rid of it or something like that.

I have a question, however: would you receive a notice only when someone that you're following shares a new project, or also when they love/favorite someone else's project and follow someone/a studio?

Well uh, support anyways! I don't always keep track of updates n' stuff, nor do plenty of others (e.g. ppl complaining about their backpack being deleted although we were given a month to prepare), so I think this would be a better way to inform scratchers. However, if there are too many notices, wouldn't it be a bit overwhelming for people who almost never get messages?

I don't think there are announcements too often, so I think it would be fine. But, I still think the best thing would be to have an area like the Messages where the Notices would go.
