Hi I noticed that the about tab of scratch says it is targeted for kids ages 8-16. Scratch is hard and I know high school seniors at my school use it so I think it would be more accurate to list the target age at 8-18 that would also make me feel better about playing it as a 17 year old.

Just because scratch is targeted towards ages 8-16, doesn't mean that if you're older than 16 you can't use the website lol. There are a handful of adults that are active on this site.

Yeah but it would be nice if they could say it was geared toward my age group. I was really hoping they would do that.

From the About tab: “Scratch is designed especially for ages 8 to 16, but is used by people of all ages.”

The second part of that sentence covers the 16-18 age range, I would think. There's no reason to change this number, and there's no reason for you to feel bad about using Scratch at 17.

I'm 19, and I don't feel too bad about using Scratch.

Yeah I know I shouldn't feel out of place, but I do and there's no reason for them not to change the number, especially because the number they currently have is inaccurate.

How exactly is it inaccurate? From the looks of the “Statistics” page at the bottom of the website, I'd guess that 80% of New Scratchers are between 8 and 16.

Furthermore, the Scratch Team says "Scratch is designed especially for ages 8 to 16". Even if 95% of users were aged 40 or above, the Scratch Team's claim can still hold since 8-16 is their target age demographic.

yeah but I might not be as interested in Scratch then
