What about gaming controllers?
(DISCUSSION HAS BEEN MOVED HERE: https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/topic/411455/)
I think that game controllers (like Xbox, Dual Shock, Wii U Pro, and Joy-Con) should be able to connect to Scratch in Scratch 3.1.
There could be blocks like:

One way you could use controllers is to trick your computer into recognizing it as a keyboard, but that's not the best way to do it…
Some random guy that likes Classic Sonic and Klik & Play.

I totally agree! You can already use micro bit and that uses Bluetooth. Nintendo switch controllers also use Bluetooth so it wouldn’t be too difficult.

Anything with Bluetooth should work with Scratch if they allow this. Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch all have Bluetooth and USB so I think its an awesome idea they should do this

Keep in mind that these will cost money, no matter what. A I think that game controllers (like Xbox, Dual Shock, Wii U Pro, and Joy-Con) should be able to connect to Scratch in Scratch 3.1.Dualshock 4 Controller is $60, and Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons are like $80. And all of that money just to play a platformer with your xbox one controller? This would be pretty sick if you already had a controller like this, but it might make the people that don't feel bad. Yet again, I guess that's true for every extension that you have to buy… But other than that, this sounds like a good idea.
