Scratch 1.4 and 2.0 are both available for download.

Also, the stage was on the right during the 1.x period, which lasted from 2007 to 2013, and on the left during the 2.0 period, from 2013 to 2019. Both of these periods of time were around 6 years long. However, with 3.0's release, the stage is back on the right, meaning that the right-stage layout has now been used for a longer period of time than the left-stage layout.

As an older Scratcher, I have to say… I disagree! Scratch 3.0 is pretty awesome. Yeah, it's a bit to get used to, but - while I guess I'm biased because I spent a lot of time in the Scratch 3.0 beta - it's.. not that hard. A lot of the UI does really make more sense now. And I'm not bothered in the slightest by the fact that the UI is all big and bright and “easy” now – that's the Scratch Team trying to be more welcoming to people who are unfamiliar with the cold, dark despair of programming. (I'm just kidding. Of course coding is great for everyone. The new editor design reflects that!)

And y'know – us older Scratchers should be able to adapt to changes, right? At the end of the day, Scratch 3.0 is still the same Scratch we've always loved – it's just a refined, updated version of it, and since we're experienced with Scratch, it won't take us long to re-learn the changed things. Anyway, a bunch of the changes to the editor really are more practical, and while there are totally some bugs, the ST is definitely working on fixing them.

(No worries, this isn't a bad topic to give your thoughts on Scratch 3.0 on.)

(PS, FYI, most things that are missing from the editor are things the Scratch Team is working on, really. I bet if you tell me something that Scratch had in 2.0 but not 3.0, I can find you a GitHub issue or comment saying that it's on the list of things the Scratch Team plans on re-adding. And if not - if you bring it up, the ST will probably label it as a missing feature and add it to their list of things to add back!)

This is horribly true. When they moved from 1.4 to 2.0 you could still download the old sb format of 1.4 by clicking the “share” link below the project player (link that now, very unfortunately, it is not available anymore).
