I've just tested the new Lego WeDo extension and for me it was a pleasant surprise that you can connect Lego WeDo and the micro:bit to Scratch 3.0 at the same time. This way you can for example use the micro:bit as a wireless remote controller for your Lego WeDo. It's fun.

I hope that we will able to add Lego Boost too at the same time when that extension is ready. That would be really cool. Does anyone know whether that will be the case?

Btw, you have to update your Scratch Link to be able to connect Lego Wedo to Scratch 3.0 if you allready installed that programm for your micro:bit. Otherwise, it won't make a connection with the WeDo.

I just shared another video on YouTube with a micro:bit steering wheel for a Lego WeDo car using Scratch 3.0.

Steering mechanismen of the car is from the Lego Simple and powered machines set. It doesn't work perfect in combination with Lego WeDo, but you can drive around with it quite nicely. The WeDo hub seems to lack power when the two motors are used at the same time in combination with connecting through Bluetooth with a laptop.

I wonder if you can help me out as I don't seem able to get Scratch to talk to a microbit from my Win 10 PC

I've installed and ran Scratch Link and downloaded the .hex file to my microbit which is scrolling pepil

I click on add extensions and a screen comes up saying looking for devices but it doesn't find any

I'm only connected via USB while doing this

On the extension graphic in Scratch it says BT required - my PC has BT built in but I can't see any instructions as to what to do with BT

Any clues as to what I need to do

I've found out that I needed to use Win 10 Bluetooth settings and add the microbit in there so I' now connected and working

have you tried connecting without the USB cable plugged in?

As far as I understood you need Bluetooth 4. Maybe you have an older version.

Besides the steps you mention you don't need to do anything special with your Bluetooth. Scratch should find your micro:bit using Scratch Link. You don't need to do anything else. At least I didn't had to. But I know from other forum topics that there are more people who had problems with making a connection with the micro:bit. During my workshops with kids it worked on 4 out of 6 laptops brought in by the children themselves.

Unless other PCs automatically connect the BT but I imagine they don't

mm - interesting - I just tried another microbit out and I didn't need to use Win10 BT settings to setup it up - it was all handled by Scratch connection

Maybe I was just very unlucky at first
